| Iris | Hi! So, I’ve never really vlogged, and have been wanting to start. I’ve always thought being on a collab channel is a great way to get started and get used to vlogging with a framework and goal to make it easier to actually put videos up. I know a lot of collabs started up on the old YourPants, but by the time I felt ready to try to join in the site was down… now that the forum is coming back, I’d love to use it to do what I didn’t get around to last time. Call it a new year’s resolution? So, obviously a collab doesn’t necessarily need a gimmick, but when I was thinking about it the other day I had an idea that it might be interesting to explore… Nerdfighteria is obviously a global community, and I’ve had ideas before that sought to explore that (some people might remember Your Traveling Pants, which sadly fell through… perhaps in this new incarnation of YourPants we could pick it up again). To cut a long ramble short: wouldn’t it be cool to do a collab where each of the participants was in a different part of the world? “Around the world in five days” – each day there is a video from a different place. Say Monday is in Europe, Tuesday in the US, Wednesday in South America, Thursday in Asia… or wherever. It’d be fun to get as wide a span as possible, but just 5 different countries would be fun. I’m Norwegian but live most of the year in the UK. Anyone from somewhere completely different who wants to pick this idea up with me? |

| Gillvinyeta | This is a fantastic idea! I think that maybe there should be a certain age range (to provide a good way to compare and contrast each vlogger). If you decide on one, call me! I would love to join in on the fun if you’ll except me! (I’m 15 and from the US) |
| January 2, 2012 at 3:42 pm #3534 | |
| Laia | Not interested because I’m already part of a collab, I just wanted to say that that’s a great idea. I started vlogging thanks to a collab that was started in Your Pants last year, and it’s given me lots of experience. I hope you find the people you’re looking for! |

| Donny | Sounds awesome! I’m from Bulgaria and for a while I’ve been thinking about vlogging, but I haven’t got a nice camera (nor enough courage) yet, haha. |
| January 2, 2012 at 5:51 pm #3831 | |
| Gino Brancazio | Great idea, I’m based in Wales so if you’re already in the UK I don’t think I’ll be much help but let me know if you want one from Caerphilly! |
| January 2, 2012 at 6:30 pm #4045 | |
| Maria | I think it’s a really cool idea and I’d really like to join. I’m from Denmark though, but feel free to send me a message or something if you’d like me to join |

| January 2, 2012 at 8:30 pm #5059 | |
| Shalini | I don’t know what the age range would be, but I’m a 20-year old Nerdfighter from Belgium! ^___^ |
| January 2, 2012 at 8:43 pm #5166 | |
| Olivia | That sounds awesome! I’ll be interested if i’m needed at any point |
| January 2, 2012 at 9:06 pm #5398 | |
| Michelle Barrows | This sounds awesome, I see you already have some interested North Americans but I’d also be interested. I’m 23 and from the U.S. (N. California) specifically. Linked is my YouTube channel if you’d like to see what I’m doing already. Massage me if you’d like. |
| January 2, 2012 at 11:04 pm #6403 | |
| Kristina | awwww, I have to compete against two other Canadians already? well, if there’s a waiting list I’m up for it, sounds like a brilliant idea. Oh, I’m 21. |
| January 3, 2012 at 12:42 am #6975 | |
| Paige | Also interested, but I’m another North American. |
| January 3, 2012 at 6:19 am #8863 | |
| valerie west | oh goodness there are a lot of north Americans. |
| January 3, 2012 at 6:30 am #8890 | |
| Lucy Lane | This sounds like a wonderful idea, I’m very interested. I’m 21 and I live in Australia. =] |
| January 3, 2012 at 6:35 am #8897 | |
| Kaitlyn Marquez | I’m 15 and from LA, California. You could have a bunch of different people from those countries showing small parts of each place, that would be lovely! |
| January 3, 2012 at 6:38 am #8900 | |
| Tash Hunt | It sounds like an awesome idea! I’m from Australia, but I see you already have someone from here. Still, I’m interested |
| January 3, 2012 at 6:38 am #8901 | |
| Matt Taylor | I’m 16 from the Gold Coast, Australia. |
| January 3, 2012 at 6:55 am #8929 | |
| Chelsea | This is a wonderful idea. I’m another North American, but again, if things don’t work out with the others, I would definitely be interested! More specifically I’m from Ohio and Illinois (home and university, respectively) and I’m 20. Best of Luck! |
| January 3, 2012 at 7:23 am #8975 | |
| Cameron Harvey | I’m 15, and from Perth, Western Australia. I couldn’t really commit to a weekly video but most collabs do occasional Saturday guest uploads, don’t they? Let me know if this starts up. |
| January 3, 2012 at 7:23 am #8978 | |
| Lucy Lane | @lillypadofdoom – I might be too old! I’m more then willing to step down for a newer, younger model of Australian, if that is what the channel calls for! Also, hello fellow Australian. Where in Australia do you reside? I’m a Melbournian =]
|
| January 3, 2012 at 7:30 am #8998 | |
| Tash Hunt | I’m originally from Melbourne, but I’ve lived in Sydney for most of my life. You know, there’ve been four Australians, all from different states so far on this thread. Forget around the world – we could probably start an around Australia one if we really wanted XP |
| January 3, 2012 at 7:46 am #9015 | |
| Morgan | I would love to do this. I’m an American from the DFTBA dead zone. Also known as Minnesota. No one ever comes here! We need a chance to dispel all these rumors of how cold it is here. |
| January 4, 2012 at 12:11 am #11734 | |
| Salma | I’ve wanted to do something like this since about a year ago but I just never followed through with it. I’m from Cairo, Egypt, 18 years old. I’ve never vlogged before or done anything even remotely close to vlogging and I’m kind of an all around awkward person, so I don’t know how well it would work out. But if you’d like a vlogger from Africa on the channel I’d be really happy to join =]. |
| January 4, 2012 at 12:51 am #11893 | |
| Gillvinyeta | Well. i would love to participate! As I said above, I am 15 and from North America. |
| January 4, 2012 at 3:31 am #12774 | |
| Alex | I would love to participate. I really want to get into vlogging but haven’t got around to it (scared) but a colab channel sounds awesome. I’m 17 and from Australia. |
| January 4, 2012 at 3:36 am #12789 | |
| Annisha | I have been working on building up the nerve to start vlogging. I see you have already got quite a few folks from north america on here. I am 24 years old from the east coast of the U.S. (Massachusetts specifically). So if you are ever looking for a guest vlog I am keep me in mind. |
| January 6, 2012 at 4:09 am #17645 | |
| Deanne (@theblueauthor) | I would love to do it. Now I am on the Washington, but in April I will be in Japan so someone from Asia. I am 18 and will be going to university there |
| January 7, 2012 at 12:05 am #18951 | |
| Anushka Robinson | I think it’s a lovely idea but I can’t join! I’m from Trinidad in the West Indes. We’re a sort of nowhere region. |

| Iris | Hi everyone! Wow, that’s a lot of responses! I’m thrilled so many people are interested in my idea – and sorry I haven’t replied sooner, I’ve been in a cabin in the mountains this week. (It’s a Norwegian thing.) Of course, the fact there’s so much interest makes this next part kind of difficult – I’m going to try to figure out a good way to end up with a collab group while being fair on everyone who’s interested. The way I see it, there are a couple of different ways this could be done… But I’m leaning toward going with the initial idea of having 5 “main” members from as different places to each other as possible, with the possibility of having a 6th day guest spot for other people who want to come in on a Saturday or Sunday and introduce people to their home. I still would really like to have as wide a spread as possible, meaning ideally one person per continent. So then, I guess the next step is working out how to choose which person joins from those places that have several people who are interested! For everyone else – it’d be great to have at least one person from North America (terribly sorry for lumping the US and Canada together!) and someone from Australia, since we’ve got people who are interested from both places. Right, so I guess the best way to do this is to narrow the category a bit more? Hm… could everyone who’s interested please write a bit more about themselves, so we can work out what kind of a pool we have and who might be interesting to put together? It’d be great to have these bits of information: I myself am 21 years old and a student, working on a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and Sociology. I’m interested in international development and particularly the problems with the way it’s currently practiced, and that’s the field I’d love to go into when I graduate. Apart from that, I’ve been known to get really into discussions about most things – from Doctor Who to world events to philosophical principles. I love to travel and experience new cultures, and to try to figure out how they “work” (hence, anthropology – also, this collab). I’m also a massive nerd – I love fantasy and video games (mainly RPGs), though I don’t have much time for reading for fun or playing games during term-time. I’m pretty social and tend to smile and laugh a lot (on a lot of sites, my handle is ‘excessively happy’ – after nights out, my cheeks often hurt from smiling too much). I don’t take a lot very seriously and have a pretty irreverent (though I’d say harmlessly so) sense of humour. Also, I am a master procrastinator and last-minute champion. |

| Deanne (@theblueauthor) | I though I would answer the questions since I am the only person soon to be in Asia. I am Deanne. 18 years old. Occupation is a student soon to finish high school and go onto university in Japan. I love Japanese culture as well as stories of any kind so TV, music, books, audiobooks. I love to write and am working on a novel with two of my friends. I think my vlogging style would be what is going on with me and stuff about living in Japan with some thoughts from places in there too. I think this sounds like a really cool channel because I love learning about the world and different places because I am so into culture. I would really like to be in it because it would be great to get to know new nerdfighters and vloggers since I want to start vlogging. My vision for the collab is a group of five nerdfighters talk about everyday things and also world topics (if we wanted have week themes) plus having other weekend guests or fill ins come in to give new views and ideas. |

| Eva | I would love that. US FTW! |

| Alex | I’m Alex, turning 17 in March and finishing up my last year of high school. On top of being a student I also have to part time jobs, one at a rock climbing gym and the other working in a market stall. I’m shy, quirky, love drawing and have a morbid sense of humor. I love all sorts of art, computers and reading. I am a huge fan of anime and I watch a lot of TV. I’m really interested in graphics and photoshop along with more traditional forms of art.

| Salma | @Iris ya, I’m up for it, thanks =D. a) I’m Salma, 18 years old. I’m a college freshman (Psychology major). I’m really interested in literature, psychology, philosophy, history, and politics. I’m an introvert and I don’t talk much unless the conversation is about something I’m really interested in or excited about. I can’t think of anything else to say, sorry for doing such a horrible job at introducing myself. |

| Olivia | a) Well I’m Olivia, I’m from France, I live in the South Western part of it, I’m 19, I’m a university student studying to be an English teacher eventually, I’m a book kind of person, I have to read a lot for class and am a bookworm by nature (which is good since France has a lot of literature, sadly forgotten) I love doctor who, quantum physics and anything that demands creativity and some wits! I’m very shy, but once in a comfort zone I’m very outgoing, kind of “crazy”, I have an odd personality really. |

| Frozen | a) Hello, i’m a 22 year old German exchange student in Finland at the moment & i find it. I like music, concerts, second-hand shops, tv shows, movies, travelling, languages, reading, daydreaming, to-do lists, procrastinating, the internet and so on. b) I’ve never done it before and I have absolutely no idea if the result would be decent. ^^ Having said that, an occasional guest spot or something like that may be enough for me. c) Nerdfighters are (by definition) awesome companions to interact with, it’s an easy way to get to know other cultures without spending a bunch of money on flights etc and it sounds like a lot of fun. |

| Chris | Hey, I’m 15 and a student in Istanbul, but I’m a German expat and can’t speak any Turkish. I enjoy comedies, Harry Potter, the internet/facebook, drumming, occasional gaming, extreme procrastination and travelling. I also try myself at photoshop and the equivalent but it isn’t working too well. I tend to be funny around my friends and socially awkward around girls like you’d expect me to be I’ve cut and taken videos before, but not vlogs of myself, because I can’t stand hearing my own voice played back to me I’ve always wanted to vlog, and fellow vloggers make me feel less like a lonely sad person I really want this to happen, with or without me. Maybe I could slot in as a guest if not. |

| Chelsea | Hello all! a) I am a 20 year old from the USA in my junior year at university. I currently live in both Ohio and Illinois (home and uni respectively). I can be shy during first encounters, depending on the situation, but I am a generally odd and unabashed person after I get to know someone. A little about my interests: When I was younger I took jazz dance and Karate lessons. When I quit karate I was a brown belt. I wish I hadn’t quit. I’d like to re-join some day in the future. Though I haven’t done much of it, I really enjoy watching, bonding with, and riding horses. I’m no pro…that’s for sure. But, my friend Suzy has four and lets me ride whenever I visit. I play guitar (still quite an amateur…I’ve only been playing maybe a year and a half) and some piano (my roommate is actually going to help me practice that this semester). I really enjoy reading, though that interest didn’t really arise until after I began university, so I have much catching up to do. I really enjoy Poe’s works, Harry Potter, 1984, and (of course) John Green’s Looking for Alaska. I love Dr. Who (the new ones; I haven’t watched more than a few of the classics). I seem to get attached to ABC family shows, as well. Some recent ones have been Pretty Little Liars, Once Upon a Time, and Switched at Birth. At University I am studying Graphic Design with a Business minor. I’m not entirely sure what I want to do with that or my life post-uni just yet. What I do know is that I would LOVE to do some traveling before I settle down somewhere. Anywhere. I’ve been to Germany and Austria, but that was with my high school and I hope to return without tour restrictions. b) I would love to vlog about anything and everything. Life is so full of interesting things, and so I think just bringing any of these things that we notice during day to day life to the table (or youtube channel in this case) would be wonderful. We can vlog about similarities that we find in eachother, and why that may be (such as personality traits or interests), as well as differences amongst us. Just getting any sort of conversation going would be lovely. I won’t be traveling much as I will be at university, but I don’t think that would be a hindrance for me, really. Also, I think using a mixture of jumpcut webcam vlogging and “thoughts from places” would be just fine…you know, whichever works better for the content you want to share. c) I want to be involved in this collab channel because I feel like being where I am, I am missing so much of the big picture of humanity. There’s something that makes us all human, and I find it very interesting to see humanity from others’ perspectives. I haven’t done a huge amount of traveling in my lifetime, and am not very cultured. I feel like where I am in my life right now (at uni), using the internet and more specifically a collab channel like this, is the best way I can simulate traveling. I would hope that the five who end up becoming a part of this channel can grow to know and understand each other, and hopefully gain some sort of bond with one another. Anyway, if this is too long, I apologize. But I think this is SUCH a wonderful idea, and wish the best for you all ! (especially the final five doing the collab) It’s going to be a lot of work at times, but I really do believe the result of all of this will be, without a doubt, worth it all. Chelsea <3 |

| Makaleka Ta | I would also love to join in on this project. I read some people are from Canada, and I am as well. I’m from the eastern end though. Anyways, if I can still contribute to this idea, it would be fantastic! Let me know! Margaret P.S my twitter/youtube info is on my ‘yourpants’ profile! |

| Iris | Thanks so much for the messages, you guys. |

| Enne | I didn’t see this thread sooner. I’m interested to join in on this project, but I have no experience whatsoever on vlogging. I read that no one except for @Deanne will be in Asia, and I’m in Asia – Singapore specifically. Am I too late to volunteer, since you have someone from Asia? Let me know if I can still join in. |
| January 10, 2012 at 6:28 pm #26254 | |
| Deanne (@theblueauthor) | Since there are so many people I thought I would throw this idea other there that I saw for another collab channel. What if there was 14 people so there would be two people per day of the week and groups would go every other week. |
| January 10, 2012 at 8:03 pm #26385 | |
| Yogi | I’m interested in joining, (am I too late?) and I’m from Asia, Singapore specifically, and this sounds awesome. |

| Sara-Lola | This project sound so awesome! Anyway: I’m Sara-Lola, 18 years old in my first year of college studying English Literature although I plan on changing that next year. I live in Brussels, Belgium. I am pretty shy when you first meet me but open up and become rather all over the place. I am pretty opinionated about a lot of things and love to discuss. I like travelling but have never left Europe (I’ve been to every major city here and know Europe like the back of my hand now). Since discovering the youtube community in 2009, I come home and watch youtube videos waaay too much. I also read a lot, almost any genre and watch too much tv-series (particularly Doctor Who, True Blood, The new girl). Also, I’ve recently become obsessed with the game tiny towers on my ipod. I’d probably vlog about Brussels and Belgium in general since I’m always in different towns every other week(thoughts from places) but also about stuff that interests me, books, movies, interesting debates and just my take on things. I’ve been thinking about vlogging for so long, it’s really something I want to do but, and I’m sure you’ll agree, it’s kind of scary to just post a video of yourself on youtube like that. I think a collab channel would really be an awesome platform for me to start vlogging on, because it’s like I get to share this experience with other nerdfighters (unfortunatly, noone I know actually knows anything about the youtube/nerdfighter community) |
| January 23, 2012 at 3:59 am #40247 | |
| Lily | Hiiii, I think it’s an awesome idea…. i’m 15, and from the U.S. my name is lily. hahahhaha i have some experience editing videos and such. Sooooooo, i’m definitely interested, and I look forward to talking to you more! |
| January 24, 2012 at 4:07 am #41280 | |
| Makaleka Ta | So, who made it? :p |
| January 25, 2012 at 3:47 am #42045 | |
| Ana Lucía Lombardi | I love the idea! i hope it’s not too late to join! a) I’m Ana Lucia(or just ana), i’m 16(turning 17 soon), II think im the only one from south america yet(im not sure), i’m from Lima, Perú. I’m a student and i love actig and playing guitar b) I would like to do thoughts from places; or u know, just talking about anything, proably a little about our different cultures(since we are from different parts of the world). For example, here in Peru, in October, it’s called the “Purple month” we have this kinda holiday, that lasts all month, were there are lots of celebrations, or maybe, just things that are own of our countries. Anyway, i’ve never blogged before, but im willing to learn! And, idk if im going to be able to do videos every week, so maybe i can be some kind of “regular guest”? haha c) I think is a really interesting idea, and it’s like vlogging is something that i’ve wanted to do since a long time, but never had the opportunity to do, and i think it would be awesome to show some things about my culture and also learn about other people’s traditions too |
| January 26, 2012 at 4:49 pm #42930 | |
| Tangerine | Maybe there could be 2 projects? One being a channel with everyone introducing people with their culture, country, city, in one to three (no pun intended) videos, and the other one being what you intended to do, aka a channel with only 5 bloggers from each countinent? |
