| Sarah | Hi! Would anyone be interested in that? I’d like to get a variety of members for the collab, for example that everybody is from a different country Sarah

| Marie | Hello =) |
| January 24, 2012 at 3:27 pm #41479 | |
| Alexandra Hunter | I’d totally be down, this sounds like a lot of fun. I’m an English and Film Major in Canada. |
| January 24, 2012 at 9:47 pm #41605 | |
| Lucas | This sounds pretty interesting. I’m a med student at the University of Buenos Aires, but i’m thinking of changing to bio-tech. But anyway, if you need someone from south america, i’m in. By the way, as you can see, my english vocabulary is pretty lame, but i’ll do my best too be as clear as possible. |
| January 24, 2012 at 10:18 pm #41637 | |
| Sarah | Awesome! Let’s see if anybody else is interested and then we can start planning some details |
| January 24, 2012 at 10:22 pm #41640 | |
| Alexandra Hunter | Wicked cool |
| January 25, 2012 at 7:09 am #42119 | |
| Matthew | I’d be into that idea! I’m a philosophy major, religious studies and history minor at a college in Illinois, US. |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:14 am #42123 | |
| sterling | I’d totally be interested. Sounds interesting. I’m a Finnish archaeology major, specializing in human osteology.
|
| January 25, 2012 at 10:23 am #42135 | |
| carounterwegs | I’d be interested, too. I’m a German education major with the subjects history, english and religious studies. |
| January 25, 2012 at 1:40 pm #42155 | |
| Sarah | So we’re 7 people, that’s great! I guess it’s okay if we have to members from the US, after all it’s a big country, do you agree? What we should discuss and plan now is: |
| January 25, 2012 at 2:16 pm #42170 | |
| sterling | I’d be fine even with 200 people from US! As for the blog software, I would pretty much suggest Tumblr. It’s where people are at these days. It’s also simple and…well, I consider it to be fun. xD You can create a Tumblr and add authors to it much like on Blogger. And the name…gosh…this is gonna be hard. How about something random and nonsensical? Maybe even random and nonsensical in Latin: http://freepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wakefield/funlatin.html ? Eh? |
| January 25, 2012 at 4:37 pm #42198 | |
| Alexandra Hunter | I’d be up for Tumblr or Blogger. I use blogger for my personal blog. This is what it looks like: http:www.fictionlove.com Maybe down the road some time we could buy ourselves a domain name! |
| January 25, 2012 at 4:46 pm #42202 | |
| Matthew | I use WordPress for my personal blog, but I would be up for using Tumblr or Blogger. I’ve heard some great stuff about Tumblr, but I haven’t switched over because I think it’s not the right place for my personal blog. It’s better for shorter posts. |
| January 25, 2012 at 4:50 pm #42203 | |
| Alexandra Hunter | Wordpress and Blogger are probably better for text related things, |
| January 25, 2012 at 5:00 pm #42213 | |
| Sarah | I have a Tumblr (actually a couple of them), but I think they are better for posting pictures and that stuff. I’m using WordPress for my personal blog and I like it very much. I used to be in a collab on Blogger – I didn’t like it that much, but I could live with it Does anyone have a good idea for a name?
|
| January 25, 2012 at 8:55 pm #42407 | |
| carounterwegs | I agree that tumblr is better suited for pictures and reblogging (although I love that site) and that wordpress or blogger would be better for a text based blog. No idea for a name though. But I like some of the Latin ones. |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:05 pm #42413 | |
| Lucas | I have never blogged so i don’t know anything about those things. I leave that decition to you. I like the latin phrases, in particular the “Beam me up, Scotty!” one. But maybe we must look for something more significant. |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:07 pm #42416 | |
| Sarah | We should find something catchy as a name/title, and we can use one of the Latin phrases as some sort of subtitle. Let’s brainstorm a bit… we are: international, students, Nerdfighters… hmm… |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:10 pm #42419 | |
| Matthew | Nerdfighteria’s International School of Awesome? |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:12 pm #42421 | |
| Lucas | Yeah… something with the nerdfigthing lore…. like International college for puppy sized elephants… but better…. MUCH BETTER…. Something with giraffe mating on it…. |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:21 pm #42427 | |
| Sarah | I like Matthew’s suggestion, that’s the right direction! |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:24 pm #42431 | |
| Alexandra Hunter | I like the idea as a latin phrase as a subtitle. I can’t come up with any titles though. Nerdfighter Notes? Something tying Nerdifghter-ness and University-ness? |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:25 pm #42434 | |
| Matthew | Thanks, Sarah! |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:37 pm #42441 | |
| Tangerine | I’d love to be part of that project too. (Would it take a lot of time though? I would only be able to go there once or twice a week til July… But I’d love to participate!)
|
| January 25, 2012 at 9:41 pm #42444 | |
| Sarah | The more the merrier! I think we can manage to be quite flexible on how much time it will take… if you have a lot of time, you can spend a lot of time with the blog, if you don’t have time, you just don’t. I want the blogging to be a pleasure rather than a duty, where’s the fun if you have to be stressed all the time if you can or can’t blog? |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:51 pm #42448 | |
| sterling | Ummm….Nerdfightersity? xD Nerdfightericus Studensis? I am totally sucking at name suggestions right now… Also Tumblr is fine for text posts in my opinion, but if people don’t wanna swing that way, then I prefer Blogger over WordPress. |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:51 pm #42450 | |
| Kate | If you ever need any more people i would love to take part. I am 18 from england and am studying Countryside Management. If you are full then no worries |
| January 25, 2012 at 9:53 pm #42451 | |
| Sarah | Nerdfightersity sounds a bit like we can’t spell city XD I am just commenting, I completely suck at finding names! |
| January 25, 2012 at 10:02 pm #42455 | |
| sterling | I know. But I can’t come up with anything better right now, when it comes to including nerdfighterly things in the name. The rest I could throw at you sound faaaar more lame and forceful than that one. |
| January 25, 2012 at 10:04 pm #42456 | |
| Lucas | The Nerdfightastic Travelling College Blog? (I’d rather prefer “University”, but College sounds better) |
| January 25, 2012 at 10:15 pm #42470 | |
| Alexandra Hunter | I like: Matthew’s Nerdfighteria’s International School of Awesome and Lucas’s The Nerdfightastic Travelling College Blog |
| January 25, 2012 at 11:08 pm #42482 | |
| Sarah | NISoA (Nerdfighteria’s International School of Awesome) sounds cool |
| January 25, 2012 at 11:29 pm #42500 | |
| Jane | Oh, be careful, some of those latin sentences are wrong… like some words have proper latin verbs (albeit a bit more obscure) that are just omitted. I’m from Canada, doing Classics XD |
| January 26, 2012 at 6:55 am #42841 | |
| sterling | “some of those latin sentences are wrong” I figure as much. I’ve taken some Latin classes. NISoA is a bit long but sounds all right. Kinda like International House of Pancakes xDDD |
| January 26, 2012 at 7:13 am #42846 | |
| Millie O | Psychology major from Malaysia? |
| January 26, 2012 at 10:50 am #42856 | |
| Sarah | So we should decide between Blogger and WordPress – let’s vote? I see three ways of how we could run this blog: 2) the easy way: everybody blogs when he/she has time. We would not be stressed the, because we just blog when we fell up to it, but it might result in having no blog post at all for a day or even more. 3) The compromise: this is something we could still discuss. Basically, everybody blogs on a certain day like in #1, but if you don’t have time to blog it’s okay and you won’t be punished or anything. There is also the option that you could just blog later (on the next day or weekend or whatever) if you want. And we could do some sort of guest blog thing? Those of us who are sure that they will blog every day get assigned to a day, and those who are not sure or don’t want to be bound to it can just submit whenever then want. |
| January 26, 2012 at 11:35 am #42860 | |
| sterling | I’m voting for blogger and I’d be fine with either option 2 or 3. I don’t want a strict environment, I get enough of that stuff with ‘real life’ deadlines. I don’t see the point of guest blog thing, especially if we’re not going about it in that strict blogging way. I’m also not fond of making contributors unequal by calling some ‘guest bloggers’ or something so, eh. : P |
| January 26, 2012 at 1:53 pm #42868 | |
| Marie | Whoa, I’ve missed a lot! Haha. My vote is for blogger, because I’ve used that before. I’d be fine with options 2 or 3- personally I get really busy for periods of time, and then others are long stretches of nothing. I was in a blog collab before and we all had assigned days, but all ended up just disappearing slowly. I think I was the last to blog =P |
| January 26, 2012 at 2:45 pm #42879 | |
| Matthew | I vote wordpress, since that’s what I use, but I would be willing to try something else. Also I would rather a more relaxed schedule because I’m pretty busy with school, so I don’t know how strictly I could post, plus I think it would be more fun. |
| January 26, 2012 at 3:38 pm #42884 | |
| Tangerine | I would also vote for a more “relaxed” schedule; option 3 seems ideal to me. I would vote for blogger: having used both supports, I found that one more intuitive. Concerning the name, I’d like to propose “Nerdfighteria World College (of Awesome)”. Is there anyway we can create a poll? |
| January 26, 2012 at 4:08 pm #42892 | |
| Alexandra Hunter | I vote for blogger, since I’ve used it before. Also I’m down for option 2 or 3. Seeing as we’re all university students at certain points in the term we all have to drop our lives to study for exams, midterms, essays etc. So I think it would make sense that we don’t have a strict environment at first. There seems to be enough of us that the blog will probably have a new post everyday without a schedule. BUT maybe later on when we do have more free time we could switch to a more “traditional form” It’s just a thought. |
| January 26, 2012 at 4:45 pm #42928 | |
| Sarah | Blogger: 4 Looks like we are all for option 2 or 3 – I also think that it makes more sense. Let’s be realistic, we sometimes have more important things to do than blogging… We can try to do it without any schedule and see how that works out – if we see that it’s not working, for example because everybody is posting on Saturday and nobody on the other days, we can still rethink it. Tangerine, I have no idea if we can create a poll! |
| January 26, 2012 at 4:55 pm #42932 | |
| Tangerine | About the “everybody posting at the same time”, there’s always the option that, if you notice already 3/4 posts have been published on the day you’re about to post, you write what you have to say and schedule it to be published another day. |
| January 26, 2012 at 5:17 pm #42943 | |
| Millie O | I agree with Tangerine about setting a maximum limit for posts a day and then scheduling it for later if it exceeds the daily limit. Even if there isn’t something new everyday, it wouldn’t be too big a deal. Since we’re from all over the world, we work on largely different schedules anyway. |
| January 26, 2012 at 5:18 pm #42944 | |
| Sarah | Yes, I think that’s a good idea! |
| January 26, 2012 at 5:20 pm #42946 | |
| Matthew | I agree too. It’s a great idea. |
| January 26, 2012 at 5:24 pm #42947 | |
| Sarah | For the name, we have the following propositions: Nerdfighteria’s International School of Awesome |
| January 26, 2012 at 5:42 pm #42955 | |
| Marie | I also agree. As for the name, I quite like Nerdfighteria World College (of Awesome). |
| January 26, 2012 at 7:04 pm #42967 | |
| Kate | I quite like the Nerdfighter Notes. |
| January 26, 2012 at 8:08 pm #43019 | |
| Ali | Hey guys, I’d love to join in on this project too. I’m a Maths student from the UK |
