| Gaëlle Laf. | Hi there everyone! Basically, the title says nerdfighters studying abroad, because I’ve moved from the happy shiny country that is France last October to go and start uni in London. I’m not a “study abroad” student though, I’m really doing my whole degree here. That’s kind of the main thing happening in my life at the moment, so I thought it would be cool to find someone who shares the same experience and… vlog. Also, what I had in mind was rather a duo channel, but if several people are interested, why not do more? So… yeah. Anyone 18-20 doing their uni degree abroad? If you’re English and studying in France, that would be really fun. But anyone really. Let me know if you’re interested and tell me a bit about yourself and |

| Brittany Hudson | Hey! Does it need to be someone studying? I’m moving to Germany from Canada in July to become an Au Pair, but the only class I’ll be taking in German language. I’ve been trying to find au pair vlogs on youtube but can never find any good ones, so I’ve been thinking about starting one when I go over and I think this would be a good way of doing it. Either way, DFTBA =] |

| Gaëlle Laf. | Nah, I guess it could be non-students! |
| February 18, 2012 at 7:28 pm #56204 | |
| Brittany Hudson | So, I’m Brittany, 19 and living on the East Coast of Canada, searching for my Great Perhaps. I love Harry Potter, reading (any and all books), Starkid, baking/cooking, youtubers, and traveling. I’m moving to Erlangen, Germany for a year and taking care of two kids named Tiger and Ringo. I’m thinking I need to invest in a better camera for this… |

| Gaëlle Laf. | Sounds cool! When are you moving? I guess we could wait a few days and see if anyone else’s interested? I realised I haven’t actually said anything about myself. I’m Gaëlle, 17 going on 18 very soon, FINALLY. I’m from Brittany, France and I study Media & Comms in London. I like all things involving food. I spend a ridiculous amount of time watching TV shows. I love books and music and photography and painting my nails. Also, I own both Harry’s wand and the Elder wand, which says a bit about my intense lurving for everything potter! |

| Brittany Hudson | I’m moving on July 26. We have a weird amount of things in common, including my name… I own Snape, Draco and Fred’s wands, and collect an obscene amount of Potter merch including t-shirts. I have more clothes designed for males than females. Waiting a bit is probably for the best it would be cool to have a couple people in on this. How do you plan on setting it up? Like a video every other day with a different person? |
| February 18, 2012 at 9:36 pm #56256 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | I didn’t even realise, but yeah, we have your name in common.. haha. By the way, you said East coast of Canada, so is that Québec orrrr somewhere else? Not a video every other day, I wouldn’t want more than one video a week per person, as I’ve got uni work and stuff. I guess it depends how many people we’ve got, it would be monday-friday, or mon-wed-fri or wed-sta, whatever really! |
| February 18, 2012 at 10:17 pm #56285 | |
| Brittany Hudson | I’m muuuuch farther East than Quebec. Nova Scotia, actually. Right on the ocean. Sounds good, like everyone would have their own day, kinda thing? |
| February 18, 2012 at 10:21 pm #56288 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | Yupp, exactly! Ooooh, indeed, that’s much futher West! (Yeah, I googled it.) I noticed that there’s a national park of sorts called Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, which is funny since Breton is the adjective for people from Brittany. Anyways. |
| February 18, 2012 at 10:24 pm #56291 | |
| Brittany Hudson | Yeah, Cape Breton is an island off of Nova Scotia, though still considered a part of it. It looks EXTREMELY like the Scottish Highlands which is fairly fitting because Nova Scotia means New Scotland. I enjoy how this just turned into a conversation, hahahah. |

| SweeneySays | This is a really cool idea. I’m an American going to school for Global Communications in Paris. It’s not really “study abroad” per se, because it’s grad school and like you my entire program is based here (in the happy shiny country that is France!) but, as you said, this is pretty much THE thing in my life at the moment… I blog a lot, but only sometimes vlog and I would like to start doing it more, and this sounds like it could be a lot of fun. |
| February 18, 2012 at 10:31 pm #56300 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | See, Brittany, you JUST had to say that to attract more people. NICELY DONE. And I’ll take your word for it because I’ve never seen the Scottish Highlands-although I’d really like to! Nicole, glad that you’re interested! I’m the same here, I blog a lot, especially about that, but blogging can be a bit lonely sometimes! Does the idea of one video a week sound good? Aaaand can you tell us a bit about yourself? |
| February 18, 2012 at 10:33 pm #56303 | |
| Brittany Hudson | Look at that! Welcome Nicole! And the Highlands really are lovely, you should take the train up! Scotland is fantastic. |
| February 19, 2012 at 8:00 pm #56676 | |
| Rhiannon | Question: I haven’t studied abroad yet, but I plan on doing so several times in my college career (Spain, France, and Russia), and though that would kind of “break” the rules of the vlog, I was wondering if I could join. I would still have a lot of things to contribute, especially about the process of getting ready to study abroad (passports, visas if needed, scholarships, university paperwork, picking programs, learning languages). Even if I can’t, I want to know where to subscribe when you all start. |
| February 19, 2012 at 9:34 pm #56713 | |
| SweeneySays | Such a welcoming thread here. Definitely a lot less lonely / more interactive than blogging! I love the idea of having more of a team effort involved, and one video a week sounds doable to me! Things about me: I’m 23 and generally resisting the idea of crafting The Big Life Plan, short of “Travel for forever and ever.” Along with pretty much all of Nerdfighteria, I love reading and this often interferes with my time management skills. I’m also pretty obsessed with The Rocky Horror Picture Show, glitter, and road trips. |
| February 19, 2012 at 9:36 pm #56716 | |
| SweeneySays | (Also, I love that this thread is also a bit of a travel guide already… it makes me that much more excited for how this project can shape up.) |

| Johannes | @raibean agreed, need subcription link |
| February 21, 2012 at 7:17 pm #57462 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | Well, Rhiannon, I guess that could fit. The channel doesn’t have to be ALL about that anyways, because we’ve got loads more to talk about. But it could be interesting to have a ‘prospective’ student and the more the merrier anyways! As for you Johannes, well, if this thing goes well maybe we could add you as features once you’re abroad ? I don’t know. Because I’d really like people to be able to do one video a week. Nicole, glitter and The Rocky Horror are two things I love, so you’re more than welcome What do you guys think? Shall we go for the four of us? does that sound cool? I’m nervous and kinda excited but I have no idea what I’m doing hahaha. |
| February 21, 2012 at 7:20 pm #57464 | |
| Rhiannon | Sounds good! |
| February 21, 2012 at 7:52 pm #57468 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | So much organisation in one message! |
| February 21, 2012 at 9:01 pm #57508 | |
| SweeneySays | Yes to all of this! I AM SO EXCITED.

| February 21, 2012 at 10:17 pm #57561 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | i am having so many ideas for stuff to talk about, this is getting ridiculous, I’m gonna go and buy a notebook tomorrow! |
| February 21, 2012 at 10:35 pm #57571 | |
| Brittany Hudson | Yep! Sounds good. Notebook is a good idea… |
| February 21, 2012 at 11:58 pm #57619 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | Okay, mmh, you guys add me on Facebook, my name’s Gaëlle Laforest. Then I’ll start a message thread and you can all add each-other if that’s fine? |

| Johannes | @thefrogsbif you’re right, I just follow you until I’m abroad myself, and then I’ll decide weather I can keep up with 1 video a week or not^^ for now I’m fine with being your first viewer ;D |
| February 22, 2012 at 10:27 am #57764 | |

| February 22, 2012 at 6:10 pm #57800 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | oh wait, so is your name actually King and then you added the ‘Weasley is our’ bit? I didn’t notice that it was written as a sort of middle name at first |
| February 22, 2012 at 6:14 pm #57804 | |
| Rhiannon | Yeah, my real last name is King. It’s apparently very common in the US, but not where I’m from. (In California, the most common last names tend to be Latino ones.) |
| February 22, 2012 at 10:34 pm #57839 | |

| February 23, 2012 at 8:37 pm #58110 | |
| Emily | I’m Emily Young, I’m 19, from England. I usually study at Aberystwyth University in Wales, but right now I’m on an exchange to Colorado College, in Colorado Springs, CO, USA. I’m an English Literature and Creative Writing major, kind of a junior (not entirely sure, I’m in the middle somewhere) and I’ll be here until June |
| February 23, 2012 at 8:41 pm #58116 | |
| Gaëlle Laf. | Coooool, I friended you and I’ll add you to the group once you’ve accepted me. And you’re from Walessssss, I love Wales, I want to go back to Wales! In English university language, are you year two? |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:14 pm #58134 | |
| Emily | Yeah I’m a second year – that’s why it’s so difficult when I got here, because I’m right slap bang in the middle! I’ve been calling myself a junior, because I’ve had the same major throughout all my university career, so it made sense to me |
| March 11, 2012 at 10:18 am #65585 | |
| Stephanie | I’m currently in Spain and will be here until May. |
| March 11, 2012 at 10:39 am #65587 | |
