| Crystal Rundall | There should be a thread for all us college kids. No matter the age or year. Just to discuss whatever is on our college stuffed sleep deprived mind. |

| Crystal Rundall | I’m currently a 3rd year College student working on my Bachelors in Theatre arts. I’m taking a base of 17-18 Credits which actually translates to 31 hours of class a week due to Theatre. I work 22 hours, or more, a week to pay for this school so once homework is added in I have over 60 hours in my work week. Who ever said working full time was hard? What I really want to know is who else is this busy with school? |

| Megan M. | Hey folks! I’m a 2nd year biology major and well as a Spanish minor. I’m taking 16 units this quarter which translates into a far amount of class time, but not too stressful. I’m working in a lab/greenhouse on campus which can be pretty exciting if you like wheat… But Crystal, you sound like you are working yourself hard, and still surviving rather impressively. Have you acted in an plays? I saw a school production of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead which was pretty could, but I enjoy Charlie’s Aunt the best. |

| Crystal Rundall | I’m a Costume Construction emphasis actually so I haven’t acted in any plays. (Don’t do acting well.) This term is really wearing me down because I’m draping for our production of Midsummer Night’s Dream. I’m one of four people constructing the 7 fairy, 7 blessing, and 4 spirit costumes we have in the play. So far it’s been coming along great. |

| Megan M. | I remember when they put on a production of Midsummer Night’s Dream in high school. They decided to dress Oberon’s fairies in a gothic style. Though you’re working hard, it must be pretty satisfying that it’s going well. |

| Mislav | Hey there. Since college in my country doesn’t have the major/minor system, I only study one subject – history. Well, technically, you can get yourself in the so-called “two-subject” studies where, as the name says, you pick two study courses but they are both on the same level, albeit each a bit smaller in size compared with the “one-subject” studies. So yeah, some stuff is very interesting, some isn’t, it depends from person to person. For example, I can’t stand learning 20th century history because I’m fed up with hearing about it, oh, every single day. But give me the early new age (Imperial age etc.) and 19th century and I’m a happy bird.

| Carissa | I guess since i am still one credit away from graduating (that’s what i get for flunking that stupid War in the Western World history class) I am still in college. Hopefully not for much longer, but hey, I plan on going to grad school so I really can’t complain. If it was up to me I would never leave college. To bad they actually want to pay for that sort of thing. |

| nonesuch | I’m a freshman taking prerequisites at community college to save teh spondulicks. Currently in the process of having any enthusiasm I had for various subjects siphoned out of me. There is is a way to go about systematically studying a subject (in a short period of time, with Grades at risk) without a lasting bad flavor, right? Am I just being a ninny? |
| February 19, 2012 at 11:20 am #56551 | |
| Carissa | @nonesuch I spent almost 5 yrs in community college taking prerequisites and changing my major till I found one that I loved. Whatever you do, don’t settle. Do what makes you happy. While community college wasn’t exactly the most exciting time in my life, if I hadn’t have stuck it out for almost all of those five years I wouldn’t have met Professor Neil Snidow and fallen in love with English literature. That man, and Beowulf, are the reason I am where i am today. Have fun, learn what it is to be grown up, and discover the world around you. Trust me, it’s awesome. |

| SweeneySays | @Carissa +1 to that. Don’t settle! I’m not going to get into my undergraduate self’s drama, but the short version is that I did settle and it made my undergrad experience so much less than it could have been (which isn’t necessarily to say that I didn’t love it in its own way). I’m in graduate school now and I love it, but it can’t really replace what I failed to garner from my undergrad. Don’t settle. Keep searching until you find what you love. |

| Crystal Rundall | @Carissa and @Sweeney Says I agree with you. I knew I wanted to do theatre when I started my Undergrade but I still took classes to explore other options just in case. Now I’m so glad I did. I took an Anthropology class and now I’m really enjoying getting my Anthropology Minor. |

| Elle | Oh boy oh boy. I’m 18, second semester, going to school in my hometown (I’ve never lived anywhere else), and really hating that I’m not at my dream school. I got into my dream uni (Boston University), but the price tag is too hefty. So I’m studying political science, taking just prereqs really, and extremely fed up with all my classes. |

| Marty | I’m a sophomore, just about to finish my pre-engineering courses and start Chemical Engineering in a few weeks. Ideally, I want to end up working in R&D to develop sustainable technologies. Go STEM! |

| sterling | I’m in my third year of archaeology studies. I’m putting emphasis on human osteology. Museology is, right now, my minor. Been thinking about going for another major and a whole other university after I get this degree done. I’m having some motivation issues here and I can’t seem to specialize in what I want in my own country so it feels like I’m at a dead end anyways. |

| Kelsey | I’m a junior right now with a double major in Information Technology and Geographic Information Science. |

| Natalie | I’m finishing up my 4th year this semester. The worst part is that I have no degree to show for it. I went to a community college for 2 years but I had a lot of problems with Math so I was 6 credits shy of graduating. I was sick of being there and just transfered to the cheapest 4 year state school in the area. Big mistake doing that. I hated the state school with a passion. The teachers gave nothing but busy work and I wasn’t learning anything. I stayed 3 semesters before I finally threw in the towel. Looking back I wish I hadn’t bothered to go back for the 3rd semester. I said screw it and transfered to a private 4 year school. I had some poor grades in the state school (a few C’s) so not everything transfered. Sure, I doubled my tuition and had to take out a crap ton of student loans but I’m much happier. To me that’s worth it. I’m going to be here for another 3 semesters (assuming everything goes according to plan). So in the end 3 schools and 5.5 years for my bachelor’s in Business Management. It’s frustrating but I just have to deal with it. |

| Marissa | International Affairs major working on Spanish and Psychology minors. Hopefully starting German soon. I’m technically a first year student, but I brought in a ton of credits so after this semester I’ll be in junior standing. At the moment, mostly concerned with my desperate attempts to get someone to hire me part-time over summer so I can start saving money to do a Spanish language immersion program abroad next spring. |

| Lisa | I’m currently a 2nd year Honour’s History major, but I’m leaving university after this semester to attend college for my Library and Information Technician program certification. I really hope I can handle it. honour’s history is really light course work. Five course (though I am only taking four this semester) averaging 50-70 minutes 2x a week, and one paper a semester along with a midterm and a final compared to 8 classes a semester, 2-3 hours a week, plus assignments. Due to the ridiculously high cost of residence and meal plans, I’ll also have to get a job on campus. I’m a little ill at the thought |

| Laura | I just turned 20 last week. I’m currently going to a community college but will be transferring to University of Texas at San Marcos in the fall semester. I’m majoring in Psychology. I don’t know anyone who is going to that school so I’m a little worried but if your going to that school or already going message me so we can be friends! |

| Nancie | This is my fourth semester in college and my first semester as a music education major. I play clarinet. I’m thinking minoring in German but my clarinet teacher is trying to talk me out of it. I’m probably going to be in school a lot longer than I anticipated because it took me so long to figure out that I should just study something I love.I’m not totally immersed in the music program yet so I’ll see how that goes first. |

| Erica | I’m finishing up my 2nd year at University and I just declared my major and minor. I’m a psychology major with a minor in counselling and human development. I may end up pursuing Counselling Psychology as a career so that would mean grad school at the minimum. We’ll see how the next two years go and where they take me. |

| Lisa | I’m 20, and I just finished my second year of honour’s history at university. I’m basically quitting university due to it not really being in line with my goals. Also my program is crazy pants, but that’s a whole different story I want to be a librarian, but I am perfectly happy being a library tech too so I’m going to go to college to be a library tech and we’ll see if after that if I get into graduate school for being a librarian. Not a big deal if I don’t. I love what library techs do too. |

| Shianne | Hey y’all! I am headed toward the end of my freshman year, and currently riding the high of having figured out my major! (Arts Administration, which is basically where you take half business courses and half art, with an emphasis in theater, a double minor in theater and french, and an honors degree.) …And also enjoying the sleep deprivation of finals week. Twenty pages of various papers and two tests to go! Oh, and I really like reading about what everyone else is doing! |

| Gretchen | Heya. I’m a 3rd year double major in Political Science-International Relations and Arab Studies, with minors in Leadership Studies, and in US National Security. Take the maximum number of classes which equals 20 hours per week. I work 4 jobs to pay for my family and my schooling = about 40 hours per week. I am also battling cancer. This is finals week and I am going insane with the amount of work I have to do, and the lack of sleep i’m getting. Along with school and jobs, I have a dance competition coming up, which I have to practice for, my fraternity committee, Track meet coming up, I have to run 2 conferences to plan, a video to make, and planning to go to the Middle East this summer. Sorry for the rant! The internet is very helpful with relieving stress, along with watching the Volgbrother’s videos! |
