Hello, play Flute, Piano, Voice, Ukulele and a bunch of really easy instruments – Melodica, Kazoo, Maracas. This year I’m picking up Guitar and Violin. Going to do more songwriting as well.

I’ve been classically trained in guitar, and I like playing jazz too. I can sort of play bass, but only the very basics. I haven’t written anything yet but I plan too sooner or later.

I used to play drums and now I intend to take up guitar I also kind of like to sing, although I’m not very good so I just stick for Singstar on PS2 for now

@Cameron I’m in the UK, and they have Rockschool. Have you done any? Personally, I haven’t, but as I’m taking AS Music I have to play Grade 5 or over to get full marks. I’m currently learning “All Funked Up” from the Rockschool grade 5 book. Rather entertaining to play. XD

Hello, everyone! I’m a singer – been singing in choirs since I was 5, and have a few years of classical training in there, too. I don’t really play any instruments, but I have a little keyboard and am hoping to improve upon my tinkering this year.
I love singing opera, musical theatre, folk, pop, and just about everything else…but can’t write worth beans.

I’ve been playing flute seriously for five years, and self teach myself saxophone, ukulele, guitar and piano. I’m a half decent flautist, but I’m rather rubbish at the rest. And I’ve never really attempted to write a pop song as I am rubbish at lyrics (which is funny because I’m a writer and I am an elite RPer) but I’ve done a couple of instrumental things and I’ve rearranged quite a few pieces. Oh, and I’m studying music for my year 11 & 12 course, which is gonna include compositions.

Hi. I play guitar (I’m pretty decent, too, even if I only have a working knowledge of theory), write songs for me and my band, and I used to dabble in electronica but I wasn’t good at it so it wasn’t a good medium for musical expression. I intend to put some of my band’s music on Youtube sometime this year, and start giving guitar lessons.

Hey! I play piano, percussion, alto sax and a little of guitar and bass and flute. I’ve been playing piano for forever and alto sax for seven years. Percussion and the rest for about two. I’ve tried in the past to write music but it hasn’t gone that well, mostly because I get frustrated quickly. However at the moment I’m rearranging and rewriting parts for a piece our high school wind ensemble is playing, so I guess I can say I’ve dabbled in it. I plan on being a piano education major in college. So yup.

I have played the flute for 3 and a half years, I now play the piccolo instead. I have played the alto saxophone for 1 year, but I am in symphonic band at my school for it, so I am half decent. I play piano and percussion on the side as a hobby and I also sing in choirs.

I have also recently joined the Doctor Who Fan Orchestra for alto saxophone, so if anyone here likes Doctor Who, you should go check that out.

Hello! I’m in Gr 12 and I’ve been playing flute for the past 5 years and I’m working on my royal conservatory level 8 right now. I’m hoping to get in to UVIC’s music education program. I used to take piano lessons, but I dropped them this year to focus on flute. I have had experience on piccolo, sax!, clarinet and guitar, too. Also, I was lucky enough to go to band camp this year! It was an incredible experience! This one time at band camp…. Flute was kind of a last minute decision in Gr8. I’ve come to realize in the past couple of years that I’m in love with the brassy sound of the trumpet/trombone and the jazz music that goes along with it.

Hey people

I started off life as a violinist. I was going to my sister’s lessons from the age of 2, and constantly surrounded by her playing and listening to classical music in my formative years. I started learning myself at age 4, and took weekly lessons until last year when I left school. I managed to achieve a merit in my grade 8 (for non-UK people, that’s the highest level musical exam you can take without doing a diploma) and still play today.
I picked up the guitar when I was 11, and started learning classically, teaching myself acoustic and electric styles on the side. According to my teacher I reached grade 8 standard on that too, but I tend to disagree with him there. Learning guitar kickstarted my passion for fretted instruments, and my real calling came when I bought a cheap ukulele when I was about 15/16. Like most ukuleleists, I bought one as a sort of joke to play around with, but then I really got into it as an instrument and dedicated a lot of my time to playing it.
Today I am studying for a degree in music, with my main study in the ukulele, and am also taking composition tuition, studying to work in film composition in the future. I play ukulele, violin, guitar, bass, viola, mandolin and banjo to a reasonable standard, and can play a decent amount of piano/keyboard and sing (though I wouldn’t say I’m any good).

@Allison Wow! Nine years?! That’s amazing! I just started playing violin last year, and I’m really not that good at it. Practice makes perfect, I guess.

I absolutely love to sing, but I also absolutely suck. I have this really bad habit of singing (loudly) when I think I’m alone. Most of the time it turns out that I am not. -_-

My main instruments are voice and trombone but am capable at playing anything lower brass really.. Dabbled in percussion – mainly tuned and fool around on my sisters french horn!!

I’m majoring in voice when I go to Uni this year so definitely looking forward to that!

Haven’t really tried singer/songwriter but may give it a whirl this year

I play violin. I started when I was about 6, and played for ten years. I then went on hiatus for 5 years, and I just started taking lessons again this year. It’s just a pass-time for me. I enjoy playing it. If I do anything with it, I might use it in my future classroom one day. We’ll see.

Well, I don’t know if I count as a musician. I mean, I am one, but I’ve never done anything big.
I’m more of a producer, producing and recording my musician friends albums and whatnot.

Although, I Sing and Play:

I am able to play guitar, drums, piano, bass and flute, I’m self-taught in all of those instruments except for the flute wich I played for about three years.
I call the guitar my main instrument, but only started playing it about six months ago.
I also consider my self a fair singer, and many people have told me the same.
Frankly I spend a lot more time thinking about writing music than I spend actually writing it (that might be the reason behind my severe lack of self-written songs.)
On top of this I attended a school with about five hours of musical education per week, though i left the school after about one and a half years.

Piano, Harp, Trumpet/Cornet, Guitar. I’ll give an short tale on each.
I come from some form of musical family. Mother sang and played Clarinet, father played Viola. 2 brothers play guitar and bass, and me? I wanted to do it all. But my hatred of string instruments makes me limited!

I started piano lessons at the age of 4. I hated them, but my mother always told me “You’ll thank me when you’re older”, and she’s right. Piano lessons are the greatest gift you can give your child!

With the harp, it was a weird thing. Someone on my fathers family (quite distant) had passed away, so he and his cousins were clearing the house. There was a harp. None of them wanted it, so my dad called me and asked if I wanted it. If you don’t know, harps are MEGA expensive and something I’ve always wanted to play. So of course, I said yes. It’s now in my attic, and I play it 2-3 times a week. Self teaching is difficult though :/

Trumpet/Cornet I started at age 8, a brass teach came to our primary school, and some kids were chosen to have lessons, and I was one of those children. The teacher taught in several schools and made a brass band out of us all, got more funding, more and more kids joined, and I’m still there to this day I play cornet in the brass band, and trumpet in a ska and jazz bands with friends.

Started guitar at about 5 or 6 because 2 of my brothers played the guitar and they were my idols. They taught me some Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc. They’re my everything.
