| Lucy Lane | It looks pretty interesting, but I had to change gay to icky, because you know, political correctness and all that EDIT: and then I changed it again, to dry and brittle, because the writer in me couldn’t handle using icky as a descriptive word.

| Spencer | I will totally write the music. It would end up being like a rock opera, probably… |

| Rhiannon | I wouldn’t mind writing it, but I already have a problem with a few things. Having the girl not telling anyone about her nerdiness so she doesn’t “ruin her reputation” is both cliche and unrealistic. It’s far more likely that she doesn’t talk about it because none of her friends are into it, so she talks about other things like popular music and television. Having her seem bratty (literally just because she’s popular) from the guy’s point of view is also unrealistic and cliche. Maybe they just don’t talk to each other because they have nothing in common – you know when you’re in high school, there are people whose names and faces you know, but you’ve never talked to them. So maybe the girl joins theater (the boy’s geekiness of choice) because she needs extracurriculars. Or maybe she’s trying out for the school play, and her song of choice is the Quark song or the Anglerfish song. Or maybe everyone has to write a paragraph about their favorite celebrity in Spanish/French/German class, and the boy has to grade/translate hers, and it just happens to be about the vlogbrothers. |

| Rhiannon | Would we be allowed to write test lyrics? Since it’s a musical, I feel like we should center the plot around the songs – which means getting some songs written first. We see what works, then make the rest of the script fit. Then we mosey over to the YouTube musicians forum and get people to start writing music for the lyrics. How does that sound? |

| Haley | I agree with Rhiannon about the main female character. We need to imagine her complexly, or else she’ll just end up as an enormously stereotypical cliché. I think she should only be keeping her nerdfighterity a secret because she doesn’t think her friends will “get it”. Also, I don’t think that we should use Hank’s music for it, because a) even though his songs are clever, they would have no connection to the plot, and b) I think the songs should be in more of a musical theatre style. Also, having nerdfighters getting together to write the lyrics and then having someone put them to music feels more collaborative, and nerdfighter projects are all about collaboration. I really like what Rhiannon has so far for the lyrics in the opening song (for anyone who hasn’t seen them, she’s put a link in the doc). I’m working on a song, too. |
