| Joshua Done | OK, so I am a writer and a nerdfighter. I highly enjoy helping people develop their writing skills. Unless I am mistaken people like us don’t yet have a place in your pants to share our work, discuss stuff, and support each other. So this can be it. Basically I am curious about other writers here and want to both experience people’s works, help people develop my skills, develop my own skills, and share my work. To start off here is a vid introducing one of my books: Enjoy – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ5PHK_u_7c

| Gillvinyeta | Awesome! I love the illustrations and concept art! My story is a little weird. Here is a short overview of the thing. The book is set in some kind of Victorian/civil war steampunk past. Ben has made some big undecided on scientific discovery and him and his wisecracking friend, Tobias, are sailing to meet the Queen of England. The boat crashes and Ben and Tobias are the only survivors. They swim to a nearby island where weird stuff starts to happen. It eventually turns out that there is a huge limestone city full of undead creepy crawlies like Giant Spiders, Zombies, Vampires and Bogeys (which are basically super polite endermen). I have a longer version of this, but I am a little paranoid about someone snatching my idea. |

| Gino Brancazio | YES! Nerdfighter writers I have been looking for you! I wonder if you’ll help me with a YouTube-Writing game project I’ve started. The whole concept is explained in the following video but I’ll summarise it for you too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCLBQolRusI The aim of the project is to take a story and give the viewers the chance to decide the outcome of the story each week. After every video you have the opportunity to write the next two minutes of the story as you think it should play out. Record yourself (or someone else) telling that story to the camera and post it as a video response. Each week three video responses will be shortlisted and voted on by the viewers. The winning video will be the next chapter of the story and the process repeats each week. If people want to write the next chapter but aren’t comfortable recording it I’ll happily read it to camera for them (or I’m hoping that if this project takes off then other nerdfighters will volunteer to be “readers”) I’m really interested in your input so please tell me what you think. I’m hoping that it’ll give Nerdfighters and Writers a chance to practice and develop their writing skills and share them with the YouTube community. Many thanks and DFTBA. Gino. |

| Lucy Lane | I write, but I’m a bit too insecure to show my work. I have one novel that needs a fair amount of editing, and one that is in progress. I procrastinate by writing, when I should be editing. I also procrastinate a lot. |

| Gino Brancazio | I’m sure the NF community has many editors on hand, perhaps you should start a thread or a group for aspiring writers who need help with Editing? @joshdone correct me if I’m wrong but this shouldn’t interfere with this thread because this is one is help for Writers whereas Lucy could start one about help with editing? |

| Ria | My sister (the nerdfighter who introduced me to the wonderful world of nerdfighteria) wrote a book, and its now available exclusively on AMAZON! Yes, it does come paperback! It’s a good-sized book, ~500 pages. It also is available for the evil Kindle, for those who don’t like the smell and feel of books. It’s titled ‘Watching Over Me’ by KT Koulos. Would LOVE if nerdfighters could spread it around nerdfighteria for her! Thanks |

| Joshua Done | @Gino Brancazio we could start a group in combination with the thread? With such a quick response something tells me we might need both. In fact, I’ll go do that and bring a link back. @Lucy Lane I do that a lot, it gets in the way of finishing projects which is one of the hardest and most important parts. Let me know how I can help. @Gillvinyeta It sounds like you have a fun concept. It will be a bit hard to help if you don’t want to discuss it with us but I understand entirely. Personally I love steampunk. Even though I write science fiction I have a fully functional origin for a steampunk planet within my universe @Gino Brancazio (Again) I will go check that out in a few minutes. |

| Joshua Done | @Ria How about some description? Tell us about the book and yourself. |

| Joshua Done | Here is the group, as promised. http://yourpants.org/groups/nerdfighter-writers/ |

| Gino Brancazio | Well done @joshdone, do you want that group to be exclusively for writers or for help with editing as well? (just clarifying for myself!) @gillvinyeta I love the sound of that idea! maybe my YouTube channel might end up going down the Steam Punk route? who knows! @rawritsria Evil Kindle? it’s just like John says, he doesn’t care *how* people are reading, just that they’re reading and sharing the fun. (I think, I may have remembered that wrong) DFTBA |

| Joshua Done | @Gino Brancazio I figure it can be for both. If it gets too big and there are too many mixed messages we can split a nerdfighting editors page off, but at the moment that doesn’t seem necessary. @Gino Brancazio @Gillvinyeta It will if you submit the first episode and win! @Gino Brancazio Just watched the vid and love the idea, I may participate. |

| Gino Brancazio | @johndone good thinking, one group for now and see how it goes. and @Gillvinyeta Thank you, I hope to see a video from you both! |

| Wessel | Hey guys, I have done Nanowrimo (and won) for the first time this year and I will do it next year too. |

| Brianna Southworth | well, i am a writer, and i would love to post my ideas here, and get some much needed editing…. do you need a video? because my webcam sucks, i could pull something up if i had to, but other then that. i would love to share here. |
| January 2, 2012 at 11:55 pm #6673 | |
| Wessel | @Brianna Southworth you can just make a topic where you ask for editing and critique |

| Brianna Southworth | okay thanks! |

| Joshua Done | @Wessel Have you ever considered translating? I would love to get my novels into Dutch. @Brianna Southworth Video is great but we are all wordsmiths (or Nerfwriters) here so either works. |

| SarahAlyse | I kind of love the word “nerfwriters.” I’m a former journalist trying my hand at fiction, working on a collection of short stories I plan to self-publish. I sold my first story earlier this year; if you’d like to read it, check out Fiction365.com. |

| Joshua Done | Where did you post it? |
| January 23, 2012 at 6:01 am #40410 | |
| Zach Hickman | Hello, other Nerdfighter writers! It starts in a medieval-style civilization on the planet Gerac. So, I’m in the middle of writing my first draft, but once that is done, I suspect that the editing will be fast, and I can move straight to publishing. From there, we will just have to see, though I will keep you all informed on possible release dates. |

| Matthew | Yay! Nerdfighter writers! I’ve been writing a novel for a while, changed it several times in process, but right now it’s going really well, the rough draft that is. It’s a story that’s a retelling of the Ragnarok myth from Norse mythology with some added elements as well. |
