| Marissa | Alternative title: College-age nerdfighters. HEY GUYS. How’s it going? What are you doing with your life? |
| January 6, 2012 at 7:48 am #18018 | |
| Jenn | Hello~ I remember a few days ago seeing the “teenage nerdfighters” and the “nerdfighters over 21″ threads. I’m in college, looking to major in advertizing and hoping I don’t end up living in a box. How about you? :3 |

| Maddie | Hello guys! |
| January 6, 2012 at 10:36 am #18064 | |
| Lydia | I am 19 too. I am at university in the UK reading Biochemistry. This is such a cool idea, I saw those groups and thought that it was a real shame that I didn’t fit in either. |

| Alyssa | Nice |

| Emily | Hi, 20, Media and Communications Major here! I don’t know what i’m doing with my life, I remain hopeful that one day i will, though. I’m kind of enjoying drifting, I like that my future still has some mystery to it… @Jenn Oh God, I think about wanting to not live in a box all the time, its nice to know people think about this. |
| January 6, 2012 at 12:13 pm #18092 | |
| D.V. | Hey! I’m 20 (turning 21 in march, but I don’t see why being above 21 would make me an adult anyway hah). I’m an English major, hoping to teach English as a second language overseas someday. Except that I messed around and went to community college instead of going to a university, so now I’m a bit behind my graduating class. @Jenn and @Emily, I worry about the box all the time. Maybe it won’t be so lonely if we’re neighbors. XD |
| January 6, 2012 at 1:27 pm #18114 | |
| Brieana | I suppose that I fall into this category. I’m 21, turning 22 in March and there isn’t much going on in my life. |
| January 6, 2012 at 2:19 pm #18129 | |
| Hannah Victoria | Hey! I just turned twenty in December and was about to write in the teenagers thread, but then realised I was no longer one Anyway, I’m at university in my second year studying English literature (which I love) and so I don’t live at home anymore. I live with five on my university friends in a big old Victorian house, which is fun because I can do WHATEVA I WANT, but it’s not fun paying for bills and rent. But, I don’t feel like a grown up at all. I still have the same mentality I had when I was sixteen. That’s why I’m dreading leaving university, because then I’ll have to grow up. |
| January 6, 2012 at 2:50 pm #18138 | |
| Matt | @dinosaurface You don’t need to grow up that much when you leave uni I’m 22, having graduated with a Master’s in Chemistry last year, now been working ~4 months as a software developer. I’m still a kid at heart!
|

| Jeremy Rogers | I’m 24 and recently graduated with a degree in psychology and I am now looking for a job. I still am trying to figured out what I want to do with my life. I’m relieved to know that I am not the only one who is worried about how to avoid ending up in a box after graduating and also that I am not the only one who is a kid at heart. |
| January 6, 2012 at 11:31 pm #18894 | |
| Jacki | I’m 18 and about to start my second semester of college. I’m a history major, I want to teach high school but the market for history teachers in my area is over-saturated so I may end up going to law school. Basically I’m terrified of ending up in a box |
| January 6, 2012 at 11:43 pm #18913 | |
| Donovan | Hey! Finally an appropriate thread. Lol. Im 19, Canadian (woot!), in College for Advertising (btw @Jenn you’re cool for studying the same thing |
| January 7, 2012 at 12:41 am #19002 | |
| Jeremy | Well I just turned 24 in December. It’s weird, when you’re younger 24 seems really old but when you finally get here, it really doesn’t feel much different. |
| January 7, 2012 at 1:08 am #19042 | |
| Steph | I’m 19 (though not for long), from Tampa, Florida, and studying Biology at USF. That sort of me in a nutshell. But um…I like Doctor Who (which seems to be a trend) and all I really do is do homework and blog. I play the flute, too. |
| January 7, 2012 at 1:31 am #19059 | |
| Andi N. | Hi ^_^ I’m 21, turning 22 in March. I’m currently in a Con. Ed. (teaching) program, and I’m majoring in English. I hail from Canada, and am told that my goal to teach Deaf elementary students will not have me living in a box As much as I know I’m an official adult, I don’t feel like one – at all. I still feel the same as I did when I was 19. But really, I don’t mind so much. It’s weird, yes, but I’d rather just be me, whatever level of maturity that may mean, you know? I’m also short, so I’ve gotten used to the fact that people will forever think I’m younger than I actually am. Something I figure I’ll appreciate as I get older |

| Liz | Hello all! |
| January 7, 2012 at 6:40 pm #20463 | |
| Melanie | Hello! I’m Melanie. 19, and currently major-less in college in Rhode Island. I’m thinking about choosing something that can lead me into the publishing industry, maybe as an editor. So I’ve been thinking about majoring in English, or Business, or double majoring in these (because I figure that if I have a background in each, there will be more opportunities if something as specific as editing isn’t available). And I also love computers, and am thinking about minoring in Computer Science because I think it’d be really fun and interesting! And these days, everyone needs to know at least something about computers. |
| January 7, 2012 at 6:50 pm #20490 | |
| Emily | This will be me in May, unfortunately, so I guess I’d better get used to it. I’m Emily, and I currently go to college in both Massachusetts and Michigan. It’s complicated. I was born and raised in Michigan and I love it here. I’m majoring in history, which I also love, with the hopes of being a professor or an archivist. I’m 19, but apparently I look younger, because the check-in people at the airport always ask if I’m *really* traveling alone. I can’t say I mind. |
| January 7, 2012 at 8:03 pm #20667 | |
| Aoife | Heeeey I suppose this thread is more appropriate for me as I’m not longer officially a teenager!! |
| January 7, 2012 at 8:22 pm #20712 | |
| Stu | i’m turning 25 this year, which has always felt like some kind of marginal of becoming an adult, but now i’m sort of feeling like maybe 30 is the new marginal! i studied photography for three years and now i’m applying to Scotland (i’m from Finland) to study some more of it. tho i’m terrified of the competition and not getting in. so i’m probably applying to study something else in Finland too. right now i’m working in a library, which could be a possible career choise. i don’t really care for all that, career and money. i’d rahter just travel and watch Doctor Who (yes, i love it too!). i moved back home last summer after i graduated, living in the city where i was studying was gonna be way too expencive cause i had to move out from my student apartment, obviously. and i’m even more afraid of getting stuck here than ending up living in a box. my parents are cool and all, but it is kind of annoying that i still have to text my mom like “hey i’m not coming home tonight.” i miss my freedom. |
| January 7, 2012 at 8:56 pm #20808 | |
| Aoife | @dylansdream I know what you mean, when I came home for Christmas I was *so* not used to the idea that I have to tell my mother when I’m home and where I am! It’s much better living alone or with friends and you can just go out and not having anyone know where you are…it’s quite freeing.. |
| January 7, 2012 at 11:53 pm #21366 | |
| Hannah Victoria | Yeah, it’s been weird for me being at home this Christmas. I thought that I couldn’t wait to be back home, but all I want to do now is go back to uni where I can be back in control of my own life. It’s fun being at home, but I end up getting treated like a kid again – my dad always wants to know where I am and I can’t just go and buy stuff whenever I want (I don’t drive and the buses are much easier to deal with at uni than when I’m at home). But at the same time I’m not ready to be treated like a proper adult. The problem’s caused a lot of arguments! |
| January 8, 2012 at 6:41 am #22055 | |
| Jake Gentry | 19, almost 20. Still feel like I should be 17, doing vocal music ed at TTU (TN), but even if I’m broke I won’t be living in a box. I plan to do some hardcore primitive wilderness survival training so I can drop off the grid if I feel like it. That way if I get to the point where other people would normally be living in a box, I can just go be a mountain man. |
| January 8, 2012 at 12:30 pm #22227 | |
| Nicola | I’m 21 and Australian. I just graduated uni, now looking for an actual day job. And freaking out a little bit… I plan to do heaps of creative stuff this year, whether or not I get paid for it. But a job, however boring, that gives me a stable income might make me feel a bit more… ‘grown up’. hehe. |
| January 8, 2012 at 4:20 pm #22440 | |
| Marissa | Oh, I realized I didn’t actually give any information about myself in my original post. I’m 19, studying International Affairs at FSU. Thinking about what to minor in or double major with. Maybe a Spanish minor? I hope to study abroad soon, preferably in my school’s program in Buenos Aires. Not sure what I want to do long-term. I’d like to travel and teach English as a second language abroad. Then maybe I’d like to work for an NGO or think tank or something of the sort. @dinosaurface I know! It was the same for me over winter break. Plus being back in suburbia rather than in a city (even a rather small city like Tally) was annoying. Everything was so far away from me and I couldn’t just decide to walk to Circle K or Publix or whatever. |
| January 8, 2012 at 5:19 pm #22513 | |
| Rowena | I guess I could fit in here too as well as TNU. Turned 18 in November, will hopefully be at uni come Autumn doing History |
| January 8, 2012 at 5:41 pm #22546 | |
| Devon | Hello! I am 20 and like @D.V. I am about to be 21 in March. I am actually graduating college in the fall with a degree in International Studies and German from Texas A&M (getting my ring this semester, whoop. :3) O____________O We’ll see how that works out, but I am going to Germany this summer, so that’s exciting. I’ve thought about doing the JET program or teaching English in Germany, but we’ll see how these things go. Right now, I am just excited that Your Pants is back. |
| January 8, 2012 at 5:59 pm #22587 | |
| Shanna Bernier | Howdy all.. I think I fit in here.. I am 23.75 and I am in my first year of real life post university.. I am an art teacher..kinda… I have like 5 jobs at the moment. Kinda dealing with that awesome situation. Me and my also nerdy husband live in Sherbrooke Quebec Canada. |
| January 8, 2012 at 6:15 pm #22641 | |
| Erica | Hey guys! I’m 19 and in at University studying Psychology. |
| January 8, 2012 at 7:30 pm #22860 | |
| Jane | Hurray! I’m glad someone made this thread. I’m 20, I live in eastern Canada, and I’m in my third year of university. I’m doing an Honors degree in Greek and Roman Studies with a minor in Russian. So basically I’m unemployable, but whatever. I spend all of my time translating latin texts (I wish I was lying) and going to shows/drinking, and I refuse to believe that I’m the only nerdfighter who enjoys drinking. Maybe cause so many are underaged, but a few nerdfighters in the old your pants told me it wasn’t a nerd-friendly activity. I call bull. Anyways. I love doctor who, parks and recreation, skyrim and sweet tunes. |
| January 9, 2012 at 1:54 am #23717 | |
| Devon | Jane, in the old Your Pants there was a huge thread all about drinking/favorite games/what you liked to drink. I do believe it’s simply because so many are underage. :3 |
| January 9, 2012 at 6:14 am #24243 | |
| Steph | @ribbon I think a lot of nerdfighters are probably American, where the drinking age is 21, so it’s seen as a more “adult” thing to do, and in high school and such it’s usually the dropouts that enjoy drinking. I mean, I’m not ashamed to admit that I enjoy it, and I’m underage. It’s fun with friends. |

| Kimberly | Hello, I’m Kimberly and I’m turning 20 this week ^ – ^ I live in the SF bay area in California and I’m currently at my local community college, hoping to transfer next semester to a 4 year. I’m majoring in English and hoping to work in a publishing company, maybe as an editor or something along those lines, and also become an author. I love reading and videogames, and I spend entirely too much time online. Especially on tumblr >.> |
| January 9, 2012 at 8:34 am #24387 | |
| Ally | Yay for a thread that applies to me! I’m 18, in college studying Special Education/Early Child Ed. I’m absolutely loving college. It just started, but I know it’s going to go by sooo fast. I’m scared for the future. I don’t feel like I’m mature enough to be an adult… :/ |
| January 9, 2012 at 10:02 am #24422 | |
| Melissa | Hello everyone! I’m Melissa, I just turned 24 and am currently majoring in graphic design. I also have an associate’s in visual arts and a certificate in medical transcription. I’m an art geek. Admittedly, I’m not exactly the best artist in the world, but I have a passion for photography (which I think I’m good at) and art history. My other interests include listening to music, playing video games, old fashion (particularly late 1800′s and early 1900′s fashion), collecting old cameras, and reading. Feel free to send me a message or add me as a friend. I don’t bite. lol. I actually checked out the nerdfighters over 21 thread and it kind of just went nowhere for me. I’m glad this thread exists! |
| January 9, 2012 at 5:05 pm #24528 | |
| Colleen | Well, I’m Colleen and I’m 20, turning 21 in August. I’m a Japanese and English Lit double major, which is all sorts of fun. I’d love to be a writer, but if that doesn’t work I wouldn’t mind doing translating or working for the government. Like a lot of people here I’m petrified of the future, but hoping and working for the best. I love YA fiction, especially Markus Zusak, Richard Peck, and of course, John Green. I’m also a huge fan of alternative female singer-songwriters like Kate Bush, Florence + the Machine, Tori Amos, Bat for Lashes, Sarah Slean, Imogen Heap – chances are if they fit the category, I’m a fan. I’m really glad this thread exists, because being twenty’s such a weird age. On that note, though, Happy Coming of Age Day! |
| January 10, 2012 at 12:20 am #25267 | |
| Bridget | I’m 18 and going back for my second semester of college in a week or two. I’m a fashion design major, but I kind of want to minor in history. I like movies and am really glad that most of my friends at college are cinema arts and tv majors because now I have friend to go to the movies with. I also like making art, sewing, playing video games, and hanging out on the never ending scroll of tumblr. I also watch anime and put off papers until the last minute. I could have probably posted in the teen thread, but I don’t really feel comfortable in those threads anymore. kind like how I really don’t talk to my younger friends anymore because I just can’t relate to them anymore. |
| January 17, 2012 at 11:25 am #35130 | |
| Izzy | Hi! I’m gonna join in with everybody and say I’m glad this thread exists. I’ll try to keep this brief because I tend to ramble, and I know nobody will read it if it’s too long…so here we go! I’m Izzy, 21, third year studying cinema production (with an art minor)! I don’t really consider myself too “artsy”, but ideally I’d love to go into animation (specifically story development, aka: storyboarding), so I figured learning how to do art would be a good thing to do. I just rambled five different times, realized I was rambling, and deleted the rambles. This has been rambling about rambling. I’ll go now. I need more Nerdfighter friends. I’m ridiculously happy that this exists. |

| Katie Rees | Hiiii. I’m Katie, 19. Studying Biochemical Engineering at Bath (England) I have an exam today… revision is going well. |
| January 17, 2012 at 2:55 pm #35177 | |
| Liesbeth | Hi, I think I fit in this category… I’m 22, studying biochemistry and I’ll be graduating from uni this year. I don’t want to grow up, I sometimes wish I could study forever, but as @dyaizon said, maybe it won’t be too bad :p Anyway, I don’t really have a choice, next year I’ll be working, maybe even a phd, who knows? Oh and @katieee good luck with that exam! |
| January 17, 2012 at 4:40 pm #35217 | |
| Natalie | “We aren’t really adults. We’re just pretending to be” is some sort of quote I’ve heard before. I don’t even know where it’s from. But yeah, I’m 22 taking 6 years to finish a 4 year degree and I feel like a big loser because of it. I’ve been to 3 colleges and hated the first 2. I’ve just started at #3 and I’m afraid I’m falling into the pattern of hating this school too. Living at home because I have no money, no car, no social ife whatsoever. Working 2 days a week at a lousy job. Maybe the future will be better, but I don’t care about the future. I care about now… and now is aweful. Advice? |
| January 17, 2012 at 11:38 pm #35640 | |
| Aoife | @ribbon Meh, I enjoy drinking a lot too but I think since most Nerdfighters are American, they’re generally not into “drinking” as much as other countries. Or maybe I’m stereotyping. The others are probably right: most people on here are underage. Though that didn’t stop me or anyone else I know… @icewinter89 I’ve never been in that situation but what I think is life is too important to be unhappy! But then again, maybe be patient for a while and see if things get better. |
| January 18, 2012 at 12:42 am #35712 | |
| Natalie | @aoifbuscus I’m trying to be patient. I want things to get better but I keep having this sinking feeling that they wont. |
| January 18, 2012 at 12:59 am #35723 | |
| Kyle Corcoran | Hello fellow made-of-awesome too old to be teenager/too young for adult nerdfighers. I’m 20 so I believe this is where I belong. |
| January 18, 2012 at 1:03 am #35726 | |
| Zach Worley | yup thats me; 20 and majoring in math at uni.
|
| January 18, 2012 at 1:06 am #35728 | |
| Kyle Corcoran | @thevcgfdfgd you wouldn’t happen to know a kid name Brandon Schneider do you? He also goes to UNI and I plan to go to UNI in Fall 2012. |
| January 19, 2012 at 1:42 am #36657 | |
| Kristina | oh hey! I’m Kristina. 20 years old. sophomore studying dietetics. I don’t really have any friends here at school so I’m bored. waaah waaaaah. |
| January 19, 2012 at 4:42 pm #37083 | |
| Aoife | @icewinter89 Owh @heidirosebud Join some societies/clubs? :O maybe you should make a Nerdfighter club in your college and see who joins!!! |
