| Jeremy Rogers | It’s nice to see so many Nerdfighters who are in between. How is everyone? |
| January 19, 2012 at 11:28 pm #37289 | |
| Aoife | I’m quite good, just saw The War Horse in the cinema and I thought it was really good…and I heard reviews that it was bad and all! I was sad though because I saw that it was based on a book just at the end so I couldn’t follow the pledge that Hank made that you have to read the book before seeing the film |
| January 20, 2012 at 3:35 am #37536 | |
| April Wang | Just played badminton and had a pretty great end to a day. Aoife, sometimes it is hard to find out what movies were based off of books… Sometimes they get sneaky about it. |
| January 20, 2012 at 10:48 am #37649 | |
| Aoife | Yeah it didn’t say it until the very end…usually they say it at the start, right?! In the opening sequence! I dunno. It was a good film in my opinion, I’d recommend it |

| Zara | Hey! I’m Zara, 18 turning 19 in February. Heading into my second semester in university studying medical genetics. |
| January 21, 2012 at 3:04 pm #38355 | |
| Alison | Hey guys! I turned 18 back in December so I guess I can find a place in this thread |
| January 22, 2012 at 12:48 am #38948 | |
| Iida | Hey, I’m 19, from Finland and I work at a local library at the moment and might end up studying to be a librarian. (If I still find working there as pleasant in march as I do now.) Last years I’ve been drifting from place to place so the fear of “the box” is with me everyday. I just hope that it doesn’t become a bitter reality to me, but I guess it’s a very normal kind of fear for people our age? |

| Phillip | How can you be at a between teenage and adult stage, at 19 you are a teenager at 18 you are an adult. see that one year overlap? of being a teenager and an adult or is that just in England? |
| January 22, 2012 at 4:18 pm #39236 | |
| James Cobb | @Philip, I assume they mean adult as in out of school, independent, etc. Although legally speaking 18 is usually the age for one to be considered an adult. |

| LizzumsBeth | Wow there are quite a few of us. I’m Elizabeth. I’m 19, most of the way to 20. (Although I hate to be reminded. It makes me think I ought to be an adult by now.) I’m studying Computer Science at a tiny women’s college. (Yes. Really.) I’m applying to study in Iceland this summer. I feel a little alone in that I’m not afraid of living in a box. Just afraid that the job that will keep me OUT of said box could eventually become soul sucking monotony. I’m also afraid because I’m in a long term committed relationship and I could theoretically get married any time. Oh god. Oh god. I’m not nearly grown up enough to get married. And yet it seems like it might only be a few years away. O_O |

| Alex | Hello! I’m Alex(andra). I’m 18, turning 19 in June so I guess I belong here too! This year I’m doing a visual art course in the hopes that I can improve my skills and maybe build a decent portfolio to get me into art school or something. I feel a bit directionless, but I guess that’s normal. Anyway, it’s nice to see there are so many of us! |

| Penny | I’m Penny, a 20 year old canadian girl/woman, in my third year of a ‘Communication & Culture’ degree in the hopes of maybe being an architect? Although that still feels like far too much responsibility for me at the moment. I don’t feel talented enough really to do that. I’ll probably end up a librarian. Right now I’d prefer to accompany @ernie9224 (Jake) and fall off the grid, live off the land. Simpler life and all that. Although honestly I’d probably use my last dollars to fly to Hawaii first. Sleep on the beach, weave leis to sell to tourists, buy 9 papayas for 2$. Being homeless in Hawaii doesn’t seem like too bad a gig, honestly. |

| Abbey K | Hello! I’m 19, Classics major, and I am so glad this thread exists! I mean, I could post in the teenager thread, but discussing serious topics with 13-year-olds isn’t exactly my idea of a fun time(unless they’re really smart -I’m not ageist) so… Hi. Yes, I just greeted you twice. I’m that awesome. |
| January 24, 2012 at 2:02 am #41074 | |
| Penny | Hi Abbey! Instead of discussing serious topics with 13 year olds, you can discuss the degree of fear you have of having to live out of a box in the near future with us. That seems to be the main unifying factor between all of us college age nerdfighters. |
| January 24, 2012 at 2:05 am #41080 | |
| Lilli | I’m Lilli, 18 and go to Michigan State University for environmental engineering. I talk in the TNU thread…I feel awkward being here cause of that after reading Abbey’s post about it… |
| January 24, 2012 at 2:21 am #41097 | |
| John O. | Hey, all! I’m 20 and this would be my 3rd year in college, but I’ve been taking this year off because I still have no idea what I’m going to do. I’ve thought about majoring in music, creative writing, psychology, so on. It seems like everything I have a genuine interest in is an exceptionally poor decision as far as making a living is concerned. So… yeah, hi! |
| January 24, 2012 at 3:05 am #41154 | |
| Heather | I’m Heather, 18, but only for another month |
| January 24, 2012 at 8:53 am #41449 | |
| Todd | Todd here, 23 and going to BYU studying computer science. Not graduated yet because I took a couple years off to do some other stuff, but I’m hoping to have my degree… sooner than later! As for growing up and becoming a real boy, the thought is terrifying. I’ve wanted to be a game developer since I was like five. The first game board I ever designed was on cardboard salvaged from a cereal box, and I wrote my first video game design document when I was eight (it was basically just Castlevania). Unfortunately the thought of going out into the workforce and wrangling in a highly competitive field has me absolutely petrified. Anyone else feel that way? |
| January 24, 2012 at 9:30 pm #41595 | |
| Abbey K | Lilli, I’m sorry if my post put you off in any way. I just meant that it’s easier to discuss current topics that are distressing, like the ever-present one that Penny mentioned. |
| January 24, 2012 at 10:24 pm #41645 | |
| Matt | O hey looky here, I fall into this category! It’s going pretty well, thanks for asking. I’m Matt, I’m 19 years old and I study Computer Science at university in the UK. c: |
| January 24, 2012 at 11:45 pm #41706 | |
| Vincent | Finally a “Nerdfighters of certain age” thread I fit in! Hi, I’m Vincent, I’m 20 and I study Computer Science at Slovak University of Technology. It seems there is quite a few of us IT nerds in here. |
| January 26, 2012 at 2:41 am #42666 | |
| Neg | I suppose I might fit in somewhere here? Eighteen year old wannabe novelist checking in. |
| January 26, 2012 at 6:24 pm #42962 | |
| Ali | Hey, I’m a 19 something year old, and I’m currently doing my second year of maths at uni (as I like to have no social life and constantly confuse myself) |
| January 28, 2012 at 2:13 pm #44368 | |
| Pedro L. | My friends, may i ask why this thread with an awesome potential, since it has the participation of so many nerdfighters (who are made of awesome!!), is kind of forgotten in Your Pants and has no discussion going on? let’s make something, discuss some, create blogs, youtube collabs with people from all over the world Btw, Hi there Ok, this was a loooooong post, better shut myself up xD (sorry for any mystakes in my english :s)

| christina | Hey all, I’m Christina. I’m twenty and somewhere between a sophomore and a senior in college (depending on if you look at my major, credits towards graduation, or housing standing). I’m taking a semester off and hoping to do a six-year plan to get an engineering degree through my liberal arts school, and I also kind of want a masters, which basically means I’m not going to be a real adult until my late twenties. |
| January 28, 2012 at 5:45 pm #44418 | |
| Jamie Gerardo | I’m 21, and right now I’m working as a nanny. I’m hopefully going back to school next semester for Deaf Education. |
| January 28, 2012 at 5:54 pm #44424 | |
| deadlyloofah | Hey i’m Ethyn, i’m 22, uh…I make films, I do theater. I liek turtlez, I’m studying to be a theater teacher, I am in my…uh…well I don’t even remember what year i’m in now. (Lots of setbacks) But it’s ok because hell or highwater i’m going to get done with this education thing. It’s awesome to see nerdfighters my age. Now if only we can actually all meet up in like a central location of awesomeness and then at that point went can ban together to rule the world! That or make me more awesome. Anyways awesome Idea I love it a lot! |

| Jerky Malloy | Hey, I fall into this group. Technically, I’m both a teenager and an adult (19 in April), but I feel much more like a teenager. I’m studying at the local community college and plan to join the Marines upon completion of my Associate’s. I even have a job, because I’m far too poor to afford college on federal aid and scholarships alone! I do not feel old enough to have a job. I hate this culture that romaticizes youth and delays the emotional onset of adulthood so much, because it’s partially prevented me from ever taking any responsibility for anything (including the fact that I never take responsibility for anything)! |
| January 31, 2012 at 12:09 am #46250 | |
| Becky | Hello! I am 19 and in my second semester of college at the moment, so technically I’m an adult. But I have no idea what I’m doing with my life so I feel very much like a teenager still. This is probably due to the fact that I go home most weekends and don’t have a job right now (other than the sort of summer job that I’ll have again this summer, but I don’t really count that). So basically I feel like I’m in a larger high school now. |
| February 1, 2012 at 12:29 am #46890 | |
| Emily | This seems like the perfect thread for me! I’m 21, Australian… trying to decide whether to go into the real world and find a real job (the prospect of applying for jobs terrifies me) or stay in the education system forever as a graduate student… then maybe a teacher… I still want to do some more travelling before I “settle down”, though. I was in the UK for 5 months last year and I really want to go to the USA and/or Canada! Finding travel buddies might be an issue though… Hmm. Yeah, so I was a history and politics major at uni but I’ve graduated now. |

| Dianna Elkmann | Yay it’s a “this is me” catagory! I turned 20 a little while ago so it’s weird being in this strange between group. Currently I’m in college trying to figure out what to do with my life [isn't that always how it goes?] |
| February 1, 2012 at 3:20 am #47043 | |
| Nina | Yay, a me category. I’m twenty and I’m a theatre major and acting/being part of the theatre is what I want to do with my life always. Currently, I’m going to community college because it’s the way I can spend the most time with my dad when he’s on R&R and my name is Nina! I wish I could live in the TARDIS that would be incredibly cool but I will also suffice to just live life to the fullest. |
| February 2, 2012 at 12:24 pm #47737 | |
| Beth | Hey,I’m Beth, 20. In my second year at uni in England studying English, Creative Writing and Media Studies. |
| February 3, 2012 at 1:57 am #48058 | |
| Jerky Malloy | @inmylife228 This also seems to be a problem exclusive to entitled rich kids who both, A) haven’t ever had to work to live before, and B) haven’t got the sense to lie on an application. |
| February 3, 2012 at 11:21 pm #48510 | |
| Jack | Hey all, i’m 19 just about to turn 20 in a few days. I’m studying History in Sheffield, UK. Really glad I found this thread, thought i’d be a bit old for the teenage ones. How is everyone?? |

| Katy | Fellow in-betweeners, hooray! I’m Katy, age 20, and currently taking some time off school. I attended the local community college for 3 semesters with an intent to transfer to Texas A&M as an elementary education major by fall 2012. But about a month before the winter holidays, I realized that I don’t really want to be a teacher – I just wanted to feel like I had a plan. So I’m taking this semester off to work and contemplate what it is I really want to do with my life. Woo hoo identity crisis! o__o EDIT: @gaypher – I apologize in advance if this comes off as rude or an attack, but please explain how it’s a “problem exclusive to entitled rich kids?” My family is not poor by any stretch of the imagination, but we don’t really have any financial “wiggle room,” either. I recently got extremely lucky to earn a job at a nearby Chipotle after my particular location had about 5 people all quit unexpectedly within weeks of each other. Previous to this job, I was a summer employee at Justice and spent the next several months working my butt off trying to get something to carry me until the holiday season. I couldn’t get anything. Not even at McDonald’s or some other fast food place. And by the time I realized that Justice was lying when they said they would call me back for the holidays (I poked my head in a few days before Christmas, they just hired all new people for the season) it was too late to get a seasonal job elsewhere. So I don’t really understand how it’s my fault I had only a smidgen of experience. It was not for lack of trying, and excuse me for trusting that the company who DID employ me would keep their promise to bring me – someone they had already taken the time and energy to train – back in for Christmas. And yes, training can be expensive, and it’s time consuming. But at some point, some business is going to HAVE to make the effort to train people, or there will be no way to fill the gap when the current employees inevitably leave. Also I’m very interested to learn how it’s ever appropriate or a good idea to lie on an application? Just seems like it’s guaranteed to backfire. |

| Tashia Rogers | Hi hi. Tashia, 20 |
| February 17, 2012 at 3:59 am #55868 | |
| Jeremy Rogers | Hey! we have the same last name! I am looking for a job right now and it is pretty bad with so many places like Books- a- Million, fye, Target, and etc. requiring more experience . This makes it tough to even get hired on at the most basic of jobs. I was lucky enough to apply to a bank that counted every two years of college as a year of experience so I am hoping to hear from them. |
| February 17, 2012 at 4:03 am #55872 | |
| Tashia Rogers | Yeahhh, be a teller! I make people buy clothes is what I do, Sir Same Surname |
| February 17, 2012 at 6:01 pm #55936 | |
| Jeremy Rogers | Call me Jeremy! Thanks, I hope I get it. You make people buy clothes? Sounds interesting.
|
| February 17, 2012 at 6:10 pm #55938 | |
| Tashia Rogers | No, it’s really not lol. It takes all the magic out of the mall. |

| Kiar | I thoroughly approve of this thread. Hey, I’m a 20 year old student, trying to get a BS in Aerospace Engineering. I like to watch kung-fu flicks, do urban exploring, and read a lot. Yes, I’m a girl. Glad to see there are other NF’s in my age group! |
| February 17, 2012 at 6:34 pm #55948 | |
| Jeremy Rogers | Ah, which store do you work at? @Kiar: Glad to have you! |
| February 18, 2012 at 6:26 am #56119 | |
| Sophie | Hi, I’m Sophie. Surprisingly I’m a 19 year old student at university. I’m studying food science right now. btw. This thread is awesome. I love discussing all that is good and nerdy in this world! @ayearofmiracles I totally get the identity crisis thing. I’m slowly starting to realize that working with solely science and lab equipment all day may not be exactly what I want to do for the rest of my life. Why does figuring out an ideal career have to be so hard?! |
| February 18, 2012 at 8:56 am #56130 | |
| Brittany Hudson | Brittany, also 19, thought I was the only Nerdfighter on the East Coast of Canada until I read @ribbon ‘s post. Currently not in school, because I’m working full time to save some money to go to school, but alas, still haven’t managed to make it because I’ve decided I’d rather take ANOTHER year and go to Germany and work as an Au Pair for some kids named Tiger and Ringo. Why yes, those happen to be the greatest names ever. I happen to agree with Jane that drinking is VERY nerd friendly because when my friend is drunk she tends to like to pick up my wands and yell “STUPEFY!” at people. Yes, I do have multiple Harry Potter wands, three actually. I like reading books for young adults, and recently was reading one and had someone comment, “that book looks like it’s written for twelve year olds”, and it was. I also seem to own way too many t-shirts dedicated to fandoms. So, hey =] |
| February 26, 2012 at 6:42 am #59592 | |
| Izzy | Hi. Just popping in to send everyone a virtual high-five! *puts hand up* *hopes to not be left hanging* |

| Todd | @izzyroo *high fived* |
| February 26, 2012 at 7:21 pm #59710 | |
| Robbie Antenesse | Is there room for another college-ager in here? I’m 21 and in Denver, CO going to Colorado Christian University, and my only Nerdfighter friend is in D.C. for the semester and I probably won’t see them again since I’m graduating in may. D: I’m just pretty stoked that YP is finally back! Yay! |

| Bree | Hi guys, I’m Bree and I’m 19. I’m from Alberta, Canada I’m in my second year of university and I want to be a teacher, although I don’t know what grade yet. My current major is a general humanities major which means I get to study, english, history and drama and it’s pretty cool, although I might be changing schools soon. I’m currently obsessed with arrested development, and I really like reading and watching movies. I really want to make some nerdfighter friends, so feel free to talk to me or ask for my tumblr url! |
| February 28, 2012 at 8:29 am #60696 | |
| Caoimhe | Oh good, Nerdfighters my age. I feel like we’re a small minority ._. I’m Caoimhe, I’m 20 years old and I’m currently a university dropout who just moved to Texas a week ago. I like moving and travelling and seeing new places and people! I think once I settle for a bit I’ll go back to school and I think I want to be a speech/accent/language coach. I WISH I could live off being an artist, but I would literally starve if I tried that. |
