| Munk | Ja, hallo! My näme is Munk, and I am göing to be yoor höst this eevening! Läteral theenking is so much fun! *ahem* Anyway, the host may be a bit further north this time, but the rules are the same—welcome back to Only Connect, the best lateral thinking game in Your Pants! Once again we’ll stick to the tried and true recipe, just like IKEAs famous meatballs. For those of you who did not participate in the last game (and those who did, but ended up sacrificing their memory to Odin for points in the previous game), here’s the rundown. Only Connect is divided into four parts: Könnektions, Sekvences, The Könnekting Vall, and Missing Vöwels. These will all be explained, but for now, let’s focus on Könnections. In round 1, Könnektions, you will be given 4 apparently random clues, one by one. Your task is to figure out the connection between these four clues. If you want to see the next clue in the connection, simply reply “Next”, and we’ll carry on, but remember: the fewer clues you need, the more points you earn! 5 points if you guess the connection after just one clue (hint: you won’t!) For example, the clues could be A hammer / Two ravens / Golden apples / A horn, for which the connection would be All are things belonging to Norse Gods. All right? All right. Let’s get started. Your first clue is: Miracle

| Alex McMillan | I actually love this intro. I want to live in a Scandinavian gameshow. I’mma next, because hey, why not? |
| February 21, 2012 at 9:15 pm #57519 | |
| Munk | I’m afraid you’d be disappointed. Most Danish gameshows are basically adaptations of American ones. Except for Önly Könnekt, in which liberal use of umlauts and cheap Swedish furniture are not only staples, they are mandatory. Önly Könnekt <3 |

| Munk | Your next clue is… Born Free |
| February 21, 2012 at 11:42 pm #57611 | |
| Kiar | Oh dear, I looked in on the other Only Connect from time to time, but I could never get anything. Well, it’s worth a shot! They are both movies (XD) |
| February 21, 2012 at 11:47 pm #57615 | |
| Munk | They certainly are, but alas that is not the connection we’re looking for. Try again! |
| February 22, 2012 at 1:22 am #57663 | |
| Juliet | Next, I can’t think of anything, other than the movies. |
| February 22, 2012 at 8:07 am #57759 | |
| Alex McMillan | Are they all movies based on true events? |
| February 22, 2012 at 10:44 am #57766 | |
| Munk | These two are (and looking over my clues, at least one more is based on a true event as well. What are the chances?), but it’s not the connection. Shall we carry on? |
| February 22, 2012 at 3:41 pm #57780 | |
| Alex McMillan | Yeah I’ll take one more |
| February 22, 2012 at 4:57 pm #57790 | |
| Munk | The Last Waltz |
| February 22, 2012 at 9:56 pm #57836 | |
| Alex McMillan | The Last Waltz seems very musically inclined, is it something to do with songs? Like they are all the names of songs as well as movies? |
| February 22, 2012 at 10:06 pm #57837 | |
| Munk | Afraid not, but I’m impressed with the guesses so far! |
| February 23, 2012 at 4:03 am #58007 | |
| Will | Are they all movies with a song in the soundtrack that is named after the movie? Bit of a stretch, that one. |
| February 23, 2012 at 7:34 am #58026 | |
| Munk | And a wrong stretch, unfortunately |
| February 23, 2012 at 8:27 am #58027 | |
| Madison Carver | I realize that you may all think I am crazy for this but: |
| February 23, 2012 at 8:33 am #58028 | |
| Munk | It does not. I’d love to hear your logic, though |
| February 23, 2012 at 8:52 am #58029 | |
| Matt | Next. |
| February 23, 2012 at 8:55 am #58030 | |
| Madison Carver | Next. |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:21 am #58032 | |
| Munk | Two nexts, fair dues. This one should make it a bit easier. The fourth and final clue is… The Death of Wolsey |
| February 23, 2012 at 12:50 pm #58037 | |
| Alex McMillan | My brain is melting, this one’s throwing me for six at the moment. All I recognise that as is a Tudor’s episode, and Born Free is an episode of “Dexter”, but that’s about as far as that track leads me |
| February 23, 2012 at 1:22 pm #58038 | |
| Munk | I’m eating marinated herring and enjoying your suffering. Your salty tears enhance the flavour of my black bread |
| February 23, 2012 at 4:26 pm #58058 | |
| Simen | Could it be… that they are all season finales of different shows? Miracle = How I met Your Mother Only thing that annoys me about this is that the “How I met Your Mother”-Episode is the finale of season 3, whereas the others are all season 1. I’m going for it anyways. |
| February 23, 2012 at 4:37 pm #58061 | |
| Munk | You were right to be annoyed by How I Met Your Mother, because it wasn’t right, but you got it anyway! They are all season finales of Showtime series. Miracle = United States of Tara Well done, with four clues you take home one point. The scoreboard is as follows: @nerdwegian: 1 Time for a new connection! Your next clue is… Alzheimer’s disease
|
| February 23, 2012 at 4:56 pm #58065 | |
| Juliet | Just gonna guess… things that affect your memory? |
| February 23, 2012 at 5:02 pm #58067 | |
| Munk | That is not the connection, unfortunately. Think a bit more laterally than that |
| February 23, 2012 at 5:14 pm #58068 | |
| Alex McMillan | My lord, at work today I even saw Tudors and Dexter listed under “Showtime” and that didn’t even hit me! Take a stab then properly think about it, all abbreviate to time periods? (Alzheimer’s disease = AD)? |
| February 23, 2012 at 5:17 pm #58069 | |
| Munk | @alex No, but my, that would’ve been awesome. I’ll keep that one in mind for the, like, tenth game of OC when you’ve all forgotten about this one. |
| February 23, 2012 at 5:23 pm #58070 | |
| Alex McMillan | Alrighty then, time to actually think! |
| February 23, 2012 at 6:39 pm #58081 | |
| Simen | I’m going with next on this one. Need another clue here |
| February 23, 2012 at 7:15 pm #58088 | |
| Alex McMillan | Yeah I’ll take a next |
| February 23, 2012 at 7:19 pm #58089 | |
| Munk | Two nexts! Pythagorean Theorem |
| February 23, 2012 at 7:20 pm #58090 | |
| Alex McMillan | All named after their creator? Doesn’t seem specific enough but we’ll have a punt |
| February 23, 2012 at 7:27 pm #58092 | |
| Munk | Nope, that is not the connection. |
| February 23, 2012 at 7:35 pm #58095 | |
| Alex McMillan | Oh snap, wait, they’re named after people who WEREN’T the first to discover them!
|
| February 23, 2012 at 7:47 pm #58098 | |
| Munk | Alex got it for three points! They are all examples of Stigler’s Law of eponymy, which states that “No scientific discovery is named after its original discoverer.” Alois Alzheimer was definitely not the first to discover the disease, many others had observed what was eventually named after Pythagoras, and the ones we didn’t get to: Euler’s number was named after Leonhard Euler, but is credited to Jacob Bernouilli, and Arabic numerals aren’t Arabic at all; they were invented in India. Thus the scoreboard looks like this: @alex: 3 Very well done. Let’s move on, shall we? It’s time for a picture round! In this round, all four clues are pictures, but you still need to tell me what connects them. |
| February 23, 2012 at 8:03 pm #58102 | |
| Juliet | Absolutely no clue, next. |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:00 pm #58121 | |
| Alex McMillan | Yeah go on, next |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:02 pm #58124 | |
| Munk | |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:10 pm #58129 | |
| Alex McMillan | I……i…… Alright. |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:13 pm #58131 | |
| Munk | U mad? Or as we say here in Denmark: Du sur? |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:27 pm #58145 | |
| Madison Carver | Are we keeping the game G rated? |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:31 pm #58147 | |
| Munk | Well, if you’re asking whether all the connections are G rated, then yes, they are. If you wanna swear or talk about boobs or something, be my guest, but you don’t have to in order to win the game |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:31 pm #58148 | |
| Alex McMillan | @wrapwire I don’t know what your answer is but I want to hear it now. |
| February 23, 2012 at 9:32 pm #58149 | |
| Munk | Same here! |
| February 23, 2012 at 11:00 pm #58171 | |
| Cody Stahl | Are they things with different names in America in Britain? Elevator/Lift, TV/Telly? |
| February 23, 2012 at 11:01 pm #58172 | |
| Munk | That is not the connection. Good thinking, though. |
| February 24, 2012 at 1:27 am #58210 | |
| Kyle | The images all have reflections of light? |
| February 24, 2012 at 2:31 am #58222 | |
| Benjamin | Things Amish people don’t have? |
| February 24, 2012 at 2:58 am #58226 | |
| Cody Stahl | I’m gonna go ahead and next this one. |
