I had a pen pal in England for a while, but she hasn’t responded for a few months, and I’d really like to get a new penpal again. I’m a 15 year old girl from Chicago who speaks English obviously and in her second year of highschool-level French. I love to read, write, and daydream. My name is Emma, I live in British Columbia, Canada. I’m 17 years old, in my final year of high school. I am planning on starting university in the spring term of 2012, going into the sciences (specifically biology). I’m an avid fan of british TV, as well as Supernatural, Buffy, and Angel. Hi! I’ve never had a penpal but I figure it must be interesting. I’m Isabela, 17. I’m from Brazil. I speak fluent English, but apologize in advance for any grammar mistakes that might slip by! I’m friendly but also very shy with people I don’t know. I feel like I’m annoying whoever I talk to… that’s the main reason I never joined the old YP.

Reading is my passion, and both my country’s and English literatures fascinate me. I am also addicted to a lot of TV series. More than I can keep up with. BUT I’ve never watched a single episode of Doctor Who. I just never got around to it! I hope that doesn’t keep me from being accepted into the community, haha

Favorite books include: Harry Potter series, His Dark Materials series, Catcher in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Physician, The Girl Who Fell from the Sky… and, of course, any by John. Especially Paper Towns.
TV Shows: HIMYM, Friends, Big Bang Theory, Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, The O.C., Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead are a few. A FEW.
Movies: I am in love with anything by Miyazaki, although I’m not usually into anime/mangas. Also, V for Vendetta and The Godfather are absolute favorites. Walk the Line, Candy are made of win too. Oh, and I think 500 days of Summer is overrated.
Music: I listen to everything. You can see me singing old folk songs with my mom like Simon and Garfunkel or Peter, Paul and Mary… or dancing Taylor Swift in the shower (not exactly proud of that haha). Beatles, Anberlin and Kings of Leon do stand out, though.

I just graduated from my equivalent of high school. I’m moving in a few weeks to a bigger city so I can get in a prep course for med school (the system works different around here). I guess that’s… it?!

Aloha, I’m Madilyn. I’m 18, and despite the greeting I am not from nor have I ever been to Hawaii. Born and raised in Tennessee. I’m the oldest of four children and am absolutely insane (in a good way). I speak English. I took French in high school but haven’t picked it back up in college. I sort of miss the language though; maybe I can be motivated to study again.

I’m a freshman in college double majoring in English and Natural Resources Management. Hopefully one day I’ll be a park ranger/writer. I love reading and being outside. I would love to have a penpal. My college is a bit far from my home, so it’s really exciting to get mail.

Hey I’m Rachael, I’m 19 and I live in England. I’m in the first year of a psychology degree, although I also love history. I’ve never had a penpal, so it would be fun to give it a go.
I like all the usual TV shows, and despite Hank’s song, crime dramas are a must-see. I love film adaptations of writers like Austen and the Brontes, although I’ve never read the books (something which I will get round to someday). I also love musicals, and have a list of around 20 that I would like to go and see in the West End. And I always have to proof-read everything I write, because I have a tendancy to overuse the word ‘also’.
