Two person from across the world, meeting on Skype, to speak together. Each speaking in the other’s language, to practice, share stories, have fun, help each other.
What do you think? Would you like to share your language with me? With Nerdighteria?

(For example, I’m from France, so obviously, I speak French.
I’ve been learning English and German. I could then trade with German or English-speaking people.)

Well, I’m fluent in English ^^ But we’ll have to wait to see if other persons are interested, so we can pair up and speak! Thanks for showing your interest anyway :D

I think this is an excellent idea! I’m in my third year of high school Spanish, so my Spanish is mediocre at best, but I would absolutely LOVE to do this. I’m so in.

I’m American, and am in year 3 of Spanish in school. Some help with Spanish would be nice, seeing as I am terrible at it. I do well on the test but I have barely passed my oral exams.
@wietske I would like to learn dutch but I don’t know anything about it to start, I don’t know if that would be a problem…

Welcome to everyone new on the topic! =D
I’m currently learning german, and I can help with French, that’s true.
People should be careful about timezones.^^ How should we organize that? Should we make a website where everybody introduces himself, explains which languages he knows or wants to learn, and so on? Or do we do the pairings here, by MPing the others?
What do you think?

Sounds good. What format do you want it to be in? It could be a group, or a external web page, ect.

What would you think about a blogger page, where we could all blog, and present ourselves, and maybe if we hear/see a recurring mistake in our language during the conversations, write something about it to quickly explain how it can be avoided?

that could work. Unfortunately here on Your Pants the groups don’t have a discussion unlike on the ning… though I don’t know many people that have accounts on both.

I’m Austrian, so German is my mother tongue and I’m fluent in English. I learned Italian and French in school, but I forgot most of it by now… and I want to learn Norwegian, but I only know the very basics so far :)

I have a freind who wants to learn Japanese I’m making him lessons of the basics but I don’t really know Japanese. I don’t personally have a skype but I could ask if he does.

When I do get a skype I speak French, English, & kind of Irish but I wouldn’t recomend learning from me as I have a prominent accent. I’m learning Russian, Mandrin, & well kind of Japanese to help my freind. Also Esperanto, I’m always open to new languages though, I love languages.

Do you have to have google for it?
Also: I am kind of interested in learning any language basically, but I would have no background to it? (Like not taking a class or on it or anything.)

Well, I guess if you find someone to teach you here… it shouldn’t be a problem. A fun way to progress in a language where you don’t know a lot of things is by asking questions and trying to guess what the other says. ^^

Yes, you have to have a google account; it would allow us to say which languages we want to learn, which languages we know, how we want to trade a language, when we are available (relative to GMT-0)… It would also make it easier for new users to take part in the project, and so forth.

@L.E.G I’d like to practice my English and could help you with Italian! Do you have skype?

There’s a blog open for anyone who wants to introduce himself: http://sharemylanguage.blogspot.com/
But maybe it would be easier to make a group for this project on your pants? What would you prefer?

A group on here would be easier, but as far as blogs go, a blog on tumblr would be easier to follow than anything on blogspot.

My first language is English. I am very comfortable in French, and my third language is Spanish. This is my third year in Spanish, so I am not too comfortable with it. I could try speaking with someone in Spanish, but it would be VERY limited. My French is fairly good, since I worked in Quebec full time over the summer in French, so that is another slightly-more likely option. But I would be very willing to do either or, or both.
