| example | So I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while now, but I figure I’m too much of a procrastinator to keep it up by myself so wanted to open the idea up to the wonderful people on here and see if anyone would be interested in doing this with me. Basically, my idea is to do a joint blog with a couple of other Nerdfighters in which we answer questions posed to us by other Nerdfighters- or even just completely random people. These could be anything ranging from the utterly mundane to the mesmerising (lolalliterationwhat?). From simple things such as “What words in the English language do not rhyme with anything?” and “Where in the name of Alduin’s cankle is Helgi hiding in the Hide and Seek quest of Skyrim?” to “What would it mean to the scientific community if neutrinos really can be accelerated to a speed greater than the speed of light?” and maybe even more philosophical things such as “What is the meaning of life?”. As Nerdfighters, we are inherently curious individuals with an eagerness to learn and I just think it’d be pretty cool if we did a blog linked to a Formspring or something where people could ask their burning questions and then each post on the blog could be the answer to a question. Obviously, as questions can be about absolutely anything- this project would require a variety of people with a colourful and varied knowledge base (don’t worry, it doesn’t have to be too deep- why else would Google exist) but it’d be nice if the people giving the answers understood the topic well enough to give a unique and knowledgeable response instead of spouting Wikipedia quotes. Really hope this sparks the interest of some of you, so please do reply whether you’d like to be a part of the blog or would just like to ask one of the first questions. If this does get off the ground, there’ll be a Formspring and the ability to comment anonymously on the blog so you can ask anything you like without giving your identity away (unless, of course, you’d like to be identified with something like “Rachel from Manchester, UK asks…” |

| example | So guys, I think we have enough people to start this If we realise we’re missing a significant knowledge base, we can always recruit more. So now for the boring stuff- what host website and what should it be called? |

| Sophie | I think that blogger might be our best bet. Your right wordpress can be a pain, and blogger just seems like it will be easier to use, and personalize. From what I saw in the comparison it seems like blogger allows the ability to do more for free, which is great for suffering university students like me

| Abreo | As far as I can tell you’re just going to end up googling most of the answers to nonpersonal questions, so whats the point? If you want this to work you need to offer something googling the results can’t give someone and interacting with Nerdfighters and waiting a week for an answer are not good reasons for someone to use this service. I’m not saying this to be a dick, but since you’re not going to provide speed, authoritative or intellectual benefits that don’t come with googling you’ll need to be more than a little entertaining or your site will be dead and you won’t have any fun running it. |
