| Moose | It is the year 2086, and you are the one of a few survivors from a zombie infection and invasion. A few years back a vaccine/cure for the common cold had been developed and distributed throughout the entire world. Everyone flocked to get the vaccine, except those who were skeptical of its miraculous wonders. A few weeks after the initial vaccine treatment, something went haywire in human DNA of those who had been vaccinated, and most died from the DNA problem. Scientists of the vaccine were baffled and went back into their labs to see what the reason was for such a mass medical holocaust, sealing themselves from the outside world. But the outside just got dangerous. Bodies of the dead rose, the DNA of the deceased humans changed and “reactivated”. Many who still lived fled from the major cities and towns to escape the invasion of the living dead, but most would die and be reborn themselves and infect the smaller towns and villages. Except the little township of Nomi, a small town in a secluded part of Oregon, that rejected the vaccine and at first word of zombies built a fortress around the town, and started stockpiling weapons. That is where you are now, and for the time being, are safe. Until the zombies come out to play… Welcome to Nomi! We are glad you survived and came to help our little fort stay a safe haven for those who still have a mind of their own! Not that we are implying those damn zombies are being controlled by an external force… but anyways I am the Governor R. the leader of this fort. Now, if you would be so kind to fill out this form, we can then set you to work. We are growing nation after all. Character sheet

| Munk | Name: Stacey Nieves Considering he didn’t pay taxes, and records still showed he was living with his parents back in Chicago, he couldn’t exactly waltz on down to his doctor to get the infamous vaccine. Pretty much everyone else in Missoula took the offer. When the dead people started coming back to life (among them were Jen, the owner of the diner he worked at), he didn’t think for long. He stole a truck and got the fuck outta Dodge. He didn’t get far, though—the roads were completely blocked. So like many others, he started walkin’. He saw a lot of messed up shit on the way, but he stayed out of trouble. He’d break into houses to get a few hours of uneasy sleep, then keep walking. He joined a group of survivors for a week or two, but a surprise attack from a pack of zombies broke them up, and he was back on his own. This went on for ages, and although it was lonely, he did find some comfort in walking the highways of America. Maybe he saw some helpful graffiti, or he heard it on a radio broadcast, or by word of mouth or whatever, but he did hear about Nomi. At this point he was in Oregon anyway, so he headed south and soon found himself in front of the walled town. It was worth checking out, anyway. |

| America | OOC: Moose!!! Start please? |
| January 21, 2012 at 9:08 pm #38629 | |
| Moose | OOC: Sorry was making hot chocolate! Its good stuff. You are all in a once a school auditorium, waiting patiently for for the Governor to come in and give a welcome speech and such. Will leaned back in his chair agitated. He wanted this to be over soon, he hadn’t eaten since yesterday at dinnertime and was starving. |
| January 21, 2012 at 9:14 pm #38639 | |
| Danielle | OOC: Sure is! Sarah looked around the auditorium. “Geez, it’s weird to be back in one of these things,” she complained, remembering her old school’s auditorium. “At least this one has a better chandelier,” she laughed, thinking back to the god-awful one that hung in the old barn that they called an auditorium. |
| January 21, 2012 at 9:16 pm #38643 | |
| Noelle | Lola clutched her pistol tightly, more out of habit than anything else. She knew there was no real danger here as no one around her appeared to be a flesh-eating zombie. That was a nice change. |
| January 21, 2012 at 9:25 pm #38661 | |
| Erica | Lora sat away from the rest of the crowd, but not far away enough to draw attention to herself. Around her were small clusters of people who didn’t care to speak to her and that’s just the way she liked it. Lora didn’t want to have to make alliances with others and didn’t expect to be able to trust any of the others, but she didn’t want to be singled out either. She figured, as long as it looked like she belonged, no one would bother her and for the past 24 years, it’s been an effective method for her. |

| America | Alec yawned and took a seat, he put his feet up on the seat in front of him and let his wooden sword rest on his shoulder. He hadn’t felt safe enough to sit in days, he stirred anxiously. Wishing he was somewhere less populated. |
| January 21, 2012 at 11:00 pm #38807 | |
| Ashleigh | Katherine took a seat in the middle. She sat straight, observing everyone around her with narrowed eyes. She took in various wounds and scars, a habit which got fairly annoying after awhile. She couldn’t relax. It was too quiet. Just like the abandoned towns and cities she had passed through to get here. |
| January 21, 2012 at 11:08 pm #38820 | |
| Danielle | Sarah looked around as more and more people filed in. So many of them looked anxious and uncomfortable. They must have had it worse than her, probably did more fighting. Some memories started to cloud her mind. She shook her head, refusing to go back to those times. She needed to stay in the present and to be positive. |

| Moose | OOC: No, it is not too late to join. |

| Kiar | OOC: Sweet. Also, question: how long are we starting after the initial break-out / the fall of civilization? Name: Chris Muldoon |
| January 22, 2012 at 3:10 pm #39214 | |
| Moose | OOC: I am not sure. Lets say two to four months? I really didn’t think of that. |
| January 22, 2012 at 4:34 pm #39245 | |
| Noelle | “When is this thing going to start?” Lola muttered to herself. She’d never been a patient person. Lola scanned the crowd, there were 6 people other than herself all waiting in the auditorium. She wondered what their stories were. None of them seemed to know each other which gave her the impression that they, like her, had come on their own. Lola sighed, not bothering to stifle her impatience. |

| Munk | OOC: Well, the intro post said the vaccine was distributed a few years back. I’m fine with either. Stacey sat awkwardly in his chair. He looked around. After all this time, there were still people coming here? Where the hell did they all come from? Then again, Stacey himself had been out there since the Outbreak, and even in the days before he got to Nomi he’d seen people. Most of them just passed him on the road, keeping their heads down and pretending like they hadn’t seen him. Perhaps it was easier for them that way. With his right foot he checked to see if his backpack was still there. Of course it was, but old habits die hard—out there, people were less squeamish about stealing. In front of him, a young man with orange hair leaned back, clutching a wooden sword. Stacey leaned forward and tapped him on the shoulder. “You, uh, you as weirded out as I am?”
|
| January 22, 2012 at 4:58 pm #39268 | |
| America | “Yeah,” Alec turned, “I’m not used to being safe, I haven’t been able to just sit in months… I’m Alec. Your name?” |
| January 22, 2012 at 5:20 pm #39275 | |
| Munk | Stacey grinned harshly. “I’m Stacey. Yeah, I know what you mean. I keep feeling for my crowbar and expecting a Z to creep up on me. Hell, I see at least one other person in here who’s got her gun out. Can’t say I blame her.” Seeing a gun was rare these days. In the weeks after the Outbreak it seemed like everyone carried a gun, but as the months passed he saw fewer and fewer. Probably ammo ran out, or the guns were just lying around where someone’d left it after being turned. “How’d you hear of this place, anyway?” |
| January 22, 2012 at 5:33 pm #39282 | |
| Noelle | Lola heard two of the men talking about her and her gun (I’m assuming). She took that as her queue and walked slowly over to join them. “Lola Jenkins,” she stuck out her hand in greeting. |
| January 22, 2012 at 6:26 pm #39313 | |
| Munk | OOC: Your assumption was correct. Stacey didn’t accept the hand of the mousy girl who’d interrupted them, but did smile at her. “Hey Lola. I’m Stacey. This is Alec, I believe.” He eyed her firearm. “So, you planning on doing some shootin’ in here? Don’t seem like a place likely to get overrun by Z’s. You saw the walls outside.” |
| January 22, 2012 at 6:36 pm #39326 | |
| Noelle | Lola dropped her hand awkwardly and sat down, keeping her gun in her lap. “It’s sort of become a comfort to have this around,” Lola replied, turning it over casually. “When I’m not in my truck I like to have at least some protection, no matter where I am.” Lola acknowledged Alec with a nod. “Also, I think it suits me,” she smiled, trying to lighten the mood. |
| January 22, 2012 at 6:44 pm #39332 | |
| Danielle | Sarah noticed some people talking behind her. Finally, she thought, some interactions. She got up to join them. She was a pretty social person and could talk to people pretty easily. “Hey there,” she said as she neared the group. “I guess you’re all here for this meeting too, eh? I’m Sarah.” She flashed a welcoming smile. |
| January 22, 2012 at 7:16 pm #39348 | |
| Munk | “My name is Stacey, and I’m an alcoholic,” Stacey exclaimed, raising his hand to an invisible circle of AA participants. “I think this is pretty grotesque. I feel like we’re waiting for the friendly mayor of Happyville to welcome us and find us the place in society where we belong.” He snorted. “It’s like it’s out of a friggin’ storybook, don’t you think?”
|
| January 22, 2012 at 7:34 pm #39363 | |
| Danielle | OOC: I thought your name was Stacey? Sarah raised her eyebrows at the guy. “Aren’t you just a bundle of joy,” she said sarcastically. She got it though. She was trying to stay positive, when clearly, now was not the time. “Yeah, I guess. But hey, Happyville is better than Zombieville,” she shrugged. |
| January 22, 2012 at 7:46 pm #39390 | |
| Noelle | ‘i’ll have to wait and see before I agree to that,”Lola decided. “Do you think they’re going to assign us jobs or what?” Lola wondered what they;d give her. Being an assistant editor hadn’t really provided her with suitable skills for survival in a zombie infested world. |
| January 22, 2012 at 7:53 pm #39403 | |
| Danielle | Sarah put her hands on her hips and said, “I dunno. They’ll probably test us or something like that. You know, to see what we’re good for.” Crap, she thought, what am I supposed to do then? |
| January 22, 2012 at 8:02 pm #39424 | |
| Munk | OOC: Tracey, Stacey, what’s the difference? Just a brainfart on my end, I’ll get editin’ “They probably will,” Stacey answered. “At this point, all the wimps have probably been wiped out. My guess is this place is run by a team of hardasses.” He leaned back. Cooking might be appreciated, provided there were enough resources for it. He wasn’t too crazy about the “from each according to his ability” mentality though. “So, where are you all from? Before the Outbreak, I mean.” |
| January 22, 2012 at 8:08 pm #39440 | |
| Danielle | OOC: It’s all good. Happens to the best of us. Sarah laughed at Stacey’s ‘hardass’ comment. Kind of reminded her of her… brother. She pushed the thought to the back of her mind and answered his question. “Well I was finishing up senior year in Massachusetts when shit went down. I’m originally from Canada, though.” |
| January 22, 2012 at 8:18 pm #39458 | |
| Noelle | “Me too,” Lola smiled, “Toronto. It was damn hard getting out of there.” Lola shrugged. It seemed a long time that they had been waiting- Lola was pretty sure this was the longest she’d been stationary other than when she was sleeping since the apocalypse started. |
